Remarks

Bethune is one of the prestigious colleges that has till date maintained its standards. One of the major reasons to take admission is that Bethune keeps itself completely isolated from the political turmoil which quite a normal thing for any college under university of Calcutta. It has some really experienced professors who are very approachable as well as helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is fairly good but the one thing which Bethune really stands out is with regard to attendance. Students should be given more time for self study but attendance is of a big issue out here.

Placement Experience

Companies such as TCS, Infosys and various other MNCs come for for placements with fair package of 3. 5-4 LPA. Many students just after graduation do get placed at some of the top MNCs of India. Internship should be provided to the students which is obviously a plus factor if they start getting that exposure from graduation

College Events

The college should introduce more indoor as well as outdoor activities so that students can be involved equally with everything around them. With respect to the department there should be more summits, debates and various other economic activities so that the students can get better exposure apart from the coursework.

Entrance Preview:

I had to clear two exams to get admission here. First was the entrance exam conducted by the university itself, called WBUT PGET (Postgraduate Entrance Test) and the second was GATE. I performed well in both of them and received a call letter from the university. During the counselling, I showed my class 10th & 12th scorecard, graduation degree, WBUT PGET scorecard, and GATE scorecard. Once my documents were verified, I had to pay the fee.

Review of Bethune College

College infrastructure is very good. Faculty is excellent. Canteen need to be modified. No hostel facilities are available. It's a girls' college, which is famous for its amiability and amity. We promote anti-ragging ideas and make sure that no student is harassed by anyone in any way. Our Student Union is always there for the students, do are our professors. One of the best Colleges

Our college has always helped us in academics as well cultural careers. They have been very strict in case of poor performance in classes and always organize a parent teacher meeting.
