Remarks
The college was nearby my place also the commute was really comfortable. I live in Laxmi Nagar and the college is situated at Lodhi Road the metro connectivity made it easier. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium(J. L. N) is the name of the metro station that is nearest to the college. Also, there a bus stand close to the college 623 is the bus that can be taken up early morning to reach college the bus fares are extremely low and student-friendly. I heard the faculty was amazing and I wasn't left completely disappointed I chose the college primarily because it was close secondly because it was the only college I was left with considering my percentage. Also, I was extremely keen to join Literature since my school days because I am a voracious reader so opted for this college and my favourite course.
Course Curriculum Overview
Well, I opted for Bachelors in Literature with a different vigour but was left utterly disappointed I don't know about the scenario of north campus colleges but ours being an off-campus college went really offbeat with the industrial exposure. The course content remains the same for all the colleges of Delhi University and it's pretty amazing for someone who lives for literature. Our course comprised of Greek Literature, American Literature, British Literature and pretty much the curriculum caters to the need of making a student acquainted with the Literature. Well if you join any society maybe The Placement Cell or the Creative Writing society they conduct workshops and you can get the best exposure if you want to work for the corporate sector by getting associated with The Placement Cell of College. Otherwise, college hardly provides any industrial exposure especially for the people who are pursuing Bachelors in Arts. (Philosophy, Literature, History, Political Science). Well, the faculty of Bcom Honours in pretty amazing and the teachers are always keen on helping. As for my department, most of the teachers weren't interested in taking classes they never taught a single word and we were completely on our own but a few are amazing especially Moumita Sarkar and Dinesh Sir they are my guiding light they were really easy to approach even Shivaranjani ma'am for that sake otherwise some professors hardly took classes and never taught a single word related to syllabus. Quite balanced approach some teachers are very approachable and taught amazing within the three year span. Overall the faculty is nice except a few teachers.
Internships Opportunities
I applied for an internship with Careers 360 via The Placement Cell of Dyal Singh College in the marketing profile. Stipend amount :-12k You've to register yourself with the placement cell first they send regular job updates on email otherwise they provide regular updates on their Facebook page.
Placement Experience
The placement cell does an amazing work they organize placement drives also send proper guidelines on how to sit for the interview rounds, interview etiquette, how to make a proper resume. For the student of Bcom honors the top-notch company KPMG also visits the college. NIT also visited for the content writing profile students who are willing to work in content writing and marketing fields get the maximum opportunities. Even Indigo visited last year for cabin crew the members of the placement cell put all the hard work and best companies visit the campus. You have to register for the company first every company follows a different approach some conduct both written interviews, G. D. Sessions the students who are part of the societies get placed easily. Maximum students from Enactus get placed. The placement cell also provides a lot of internships especially in the field of marketing. Maximum placements are for the people from Bcom honors/Bcom programme and Economics honors. Even Literature graduates get a lot of companies for the content writing profile.
College Events
Our college holds the Annual Fest Priyadarshani and it's pretty amazing a lot of cultural events are held theatre groups arrive at the event is held at an extremely large scale almost all the prominent colleges of Delhi University namely Miranda house, S. R. C. C. participates in this event dance competition, theatre competitions, creative writing competitions and various other competitions are held on the initial first days of the fest on the third day a celebrity evening is held a prominent Punjabi singer arrived in 2018. The fest is a three-day celebration and it's pretty amazing the food stalls the competitions they give a different aura to the day. Last year TED*DSC has also held an independent event by TED groups a lot of people shared their stories of struggle and it was pretty amazing to have an independent college event by TED. Meanwhile, the various societies, Astitva(the theatre society)organizes a lot of their annual fest in which the theatre societies of all the college perform its the best event to witness creative writing society organizes a lot of workshops and their annual fest also witness a lot of participants, Jamini is the fine arts society and even they organise a lot of workshops, competitions that enable students to participate. Every department holds its individual fest every year.
Campus Life
I've never used the college wifi but it doesn't work my friends reiterated on loop. Library is amazing I mean for the students who are preparing for government exams they can get the best resources related to History and Political Scinece. Also, the newspaper/weekly magazines such as readers digest are available in the library that makes it the best place to sit. But there are a few hassles of entering and putting the bag on third floor then showing the id card again. Sports facilities are quite good there's an amazing football ground nearby the back gate, a cricket ground nearby canteen and a basketball ground near the front gate. The grounds are really big but if you want to play badminton it's suggested to bring your own rackets. Chemistry and Biology labs are well equipped and well maintained the instructions are written on the wall.
Hostel Facilities
No, our college doesn't provide hostel facilities. Also I'm a delhite so I wasn't in any need to choose one. A lot of students whereas choose PG's to live in South Extension and Laxmi Nagar. If you are an outsider choose Laxmi Nagar(its pocket friendly)and South Extension(if you need a good space and you are okay with paying more). Average rental at PG's in South Extension 15k-25k.
