Remarks
It's the most reputed institutes in Maharashtra and one of the best in the country for undergraduate and postgraduate medical, physiotherapy, occupation therapy and BPMT courses. The college is attached to the famed 1200-bed KEM Hospital, which caters mainly to the population of the central areas of Mumbai City. The best part about this institute is the teachers and the amount of clinical exposure which helps one to hone his / her skills and aids him /her in becoming a good clinician. A great campus and lots of extracurricular activities as well, thus I chose this institute for studying physiotherapy.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is explained to us on the first day of every new academic year, wherein the teachers guide us about the various subjects in that particular year and advise her how to give time to each and every subject while managing our studies. The physiotherapy department of our college is located in a separate KEM orthopaedic building near the main hospital building. The clinical exposure is great here as the patient load is extremely high throughout the year. The teachers are extremely competent and skilled in their methods of teaching, helping us developing our physiotherapeutic skills to the maximum.
Placement Experience
I don't have much idea about the placements as such, since I'm still an undergraduate student. But from what I've heard, the placements are decent enough after doing your undergrad as well as postgrad. Alumni networking for job referrals is also good, since there is a lot of junior - senior interaction here.
College Events
Our college has an annual fest on February which is named " Aavishkaar", which consists of dance, singing, Hindi and Marathi dramas and plays. In addition to this, the college sets up different games in various parts of the college like paintball, soapy football, PlayStation and Virtual Reality Gaming during the fest. Students also participate in sports like cricket, football, tennis, volleyball, throwball, badminton etc during their spare time. The college students also take part in various NGOs and organisations like Switch India, Vector, Sevankur, Rotaract Club of the Caduceus etc. The college also has an annual academic fest known as " Confluence ", where various symposiums, guest lectures etc are held.
Campus Life
The infrastructure is extremely great for government college standards. The institute has 4 large lecture theatres and a huge auditorium. Also, there are separate classrooms in the physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments. The physiology, biochemistry, microanatomy labs and the spacious dissection hall for anatomy are in great condition and regularly maintained by the staff. The college has a seperate library building with centralised AC, great Wi-Fi and a plethora of books.
