Christ University, B.A. Media Studies, Economics and Political Sciences
Reviewed on Jul 18, 2020

Remarks

I wanted to pursue Social Sciences as well as explore the startup culture in Bangalore. Since IIM Bangalore is extremely close to the Bannerghatta campus it was an advantage. Also it is one of the top ranked universities for Social Sciences

Course Curriculum Overview

The course explore intersectionalities of the three fields of Media Studies, Economics and Political Sciences among other things. It has more of a practical approach towards learning rather than a theoretical approach and thus a lot of focus is given on the understanding of news and current phenomena etc

Internships Opportunities

Internships have to be availed personally, I interned at TOI, Bhubaneswar and there was no stipend as such involved.

Placement Experience

4

The placements boast of a variety of options and companies. Companies like Thomson Reuters conduct placement interviews in the college. With regards to this particular course being a triple majors, students get the liberty of sitting for placements in a variety of fields, i.e, Digital marketing, journalism etc.

College Events

3.5

Campus life is very active. The student welfare office keeps organising events on regular intervals inside the campus which promote student interactions in various activities. Another big event is the Bhasha Utsav that happens every year on campus that aims to celebrate cultures around the globe. Blossoms carnival is another event which celebrates art forms.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarships that the college awards only begins from the 2nd year of college. These scholarships are awarded by the Student Welfare Office, based on academic performance and co-curricular performance. The students have to file a nomination based on which the scholarships are announced. It ranges from Rs.1000 to Rs.3000.

Campus Life

The campus doesn't have infrastructure for sports and anyone who might be interested is supposed to visit the main campus for the practices of the same. The college has a really great library that extends to 2 floors and furthermore the students can access the IIMB library and Main campus library through their ID Cards. The college has a wifi as well which can be configured on the student laptop.

From 7th semester, students are eligible for internships and placements. The placements over here are good but only if you maintain your cgpa. There are various companies that come to college for placements. Placements for cse and ise are pretty good.
