Remarks

The most important factor to consider is whether the job which will come after the completion of degree suits your nature or not.No company in any sector will pay you handsome money for minimal work,so I took my decision on the above factor and the nature of the job suits me perfectly. Apart from this, IMU is a government university and a trusted brand. There are many fraud colleges running in the name of maritime colleges, beware of them.

Course Curriculum Overview

IMU has around 30 colleges under it's affiliation,5 government colleges and rest private.so the course syllabus is updated. This question can be best understood with the fact that most workforce are in India aregetting their degree from IMU only. I think this should clear all the doubts regarding course curriculum and syllabus part. Now coming to my college, Industrial exposure was a major missing in my course duration. We were taken for ship visit 2 times a year. Also Stimulator which is essential in maritime training was installed in last year only. So my college is slow runner with updating the student with Industries and new technologies in maritime training.

Placement Experience

3.5

I will be very clear in this. After all placement only matters at the end.For campus placement only 1 or 2 companies come but If you are all clear in all the semester, chances are very good for you to sit for a company exam. From there it's upto you. One thing I would like to sayif you are all clear, you will be placed within 1 year. The main part is waiting list kept by the companies which can take a lot of time, you can do nothing about that. Talking about my college, the last year batch, around 40 out of 90 got their placement withing 3 months of completion of degree. Two companies for which most of the students depend upon are Fleet and Synergy.

College Events

0.5

In this aspect also IMU chennai lags behind. We organize a single inter college event once a year, called NAVGATI, although intra college event is organized many times a year. Participation is of only marine colleges limited to 40-50 participants, combining all the events. No inter college sport fest is organized. There is no celebrity show or cultural festival.

Fees and Financial Aid

The University grants a scholarship for the performance in every semester except the last. For Every course University topper-100000 Next 15-750000Next 15-50000Apart from this there are many scholarship program run by respective state government and also central government. Notice for those are given by the college

Campus Life

It's poor. We don't have a nice proper playground for any sports.Although the main University campus is spread in an area of 200acres but it doesn't accommodate any sports ground. The hostels are good with proper attention given on cleaning every day. Classes are also average condition nothing spectacular. IMU chennai has a good air conditioning auditorium with a seating capacity around 300.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel condition are pretty good.No complain about that. The college hostel can accommodate 400 students with everyday cleaning of rooms is done by workers. Bathroom condition is also good with regular cleaning done. No complain.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum behind or campus is very much updated and it is changing as the technology changes. As the present world is engaging with computer and artificial intelligence,I want to improve more knowledge and also want to compete with others. The time table and the devlopment technology followed by our university is devoloped so that only placement are recorded with high percentage when compared to other. The improvement should be observed only regarding labs.We have write examination for every 30 or 40 days , because there are 3 internal test ,semester and lab exams.Actually time is not sufficient but we have to do hardwork.when compared to other universities or colleges our exams arebwry hard.

Curriculum is not suitable for real world applications and exams are conducting simultaneously every 20 days.We have to study every single minute for getting good CGPA . Our curriculum is very tough to study and it increases the thinking power of students.

THE PLACEMENTS IN MY COLLEGE ARE DECENT. WE USUALLY HAVE 3 SEPARATE PLACEMENT DRIVES FOR THE FINAL YEARS. IN EACH DRIVE, AROUND 10 TO 20 COMPANIES COME IN SEARCH OF POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE FOR THEIR COMPANY. THE PLACEMENT DRIVE USUALLY STARTS AT 9 IN THE MORNING AND ENDS AROUND 5 IN THE EVENING. THE average package THAT A STUDENT USUALLY gets is AROUND 300000RS. COMPANIES LIKE HDFC AND OTHER COME FOR PLACEMENT.
