Entrance Preview

Gate 2006 and I got 595 all India rank. Physics is the core subject in Gate. In MTech Advanced Materials Science and Technology is the branch in NIT Durgapur. Admission is based on Gate and interview. Interview will be based on the Physics at Bsc and Msc level.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course was highly advanced in nanotechnology as well as semiconductor fabrications. It gives good exposure in semiconductor industry and Nano materials related fields.

Internships Opportunities

General stipend was 5000 per month during that time after 2007 it was 8000. We can have multiple internships during our project work. We can go to any CSIR laboratory's if you can get the internship.

Placement Experience

You will have almost nill core industry jobs which are related to semiconductor and Nano industry. We can get software jobs during placements. But we can get nice universities like NUS and other IITs for PhD opportunities.

College Events

We have multiple college level events like Recstacy, DeJaVu, alumini meet etc. We will have department level events like fresher's day and farewell day etc. For passouts grand convocation day. Any many other events related to technical festival s etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's very feasible. Per sem around 7 thousands. Even our hostel and mess charges also nominal. Totally it will come around 1500/- . So no issues on the expensive side.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes. Few of my friends in MCA got loans. College supports providing all the documents which are related to bank loans. So no issues on loans side.

Exam Structure

It's semester based exam system it will have four sems. For year two sems with exams and second year two sems will be of project presentations.

Faculty was good and have nice research and teaching exposure with decent number of publications as well as decent number of conferences attended in different universities across the globe.

M.Tech in IIT KGP - What you need to know.

The placement scenario in IIT KGP is great if you're a B.Tech student. For M.Tech the placements are good but only in other departments like ME, CSE and CHE. Mostly students pursue research after M.Tech.

At the end of 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placements. 1000 of company visit campus every year in January and December month. Placement takes place in two form one in December and other in January. Like IBM, puma, ICC bank, Deloitte, ABG, Lenovo, etc. highest package is about 2.68 crore per annum, average 15lpa According to different profiles. Students should have more than 8.5 cgpa for good placements. I will join a good company after completing the degree.

NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

I applied to IIEST Shibpur and was getting ECE there but I chose this college because of its brand name, infrastructure and placement which are all way above shibpur. No I did not get any rejection form college I applied for.
