Unexpected Happiness

Tezpur University entrance exam. Scores of particular students are not reviled, but my name was in the 6th position of the 1st waiting list. Tezpur University is one of the best institutions in Assam, that is why, I chose to study here. Moreover, it is a Central University.

The curriculum is perfectly designed to ensure that a student is well qualified when he or she passes out. Every semester, we need to chose an extra elective paper, choice based credit transfer (CBCT), which may be from any discipline or course in the university. I think this is very helpful in expanding one's knowledge and experiences.

My course does not require me to do internship in particular company or institute. The department does not offer such internship opportunity, however, our professors have us suggestions for the possible places we could opt for summer internship during our break.

Many NGOs and other companies come for placement. But not all opt for these job opportunities. And the packages differ from company to company and from year to year.

Our university organizes all sort of event. Starting from TechXtra, the technical event, to Sampark, the management event, the University provides for ample amount of opportunities to each student to showcase their talent, as well as each disciplinary school to conduct their events and fests. All events are a huge success as many students from inside as well as outside the campus come to participate in the programs.

The university also provides a lot of scholarship and many other facilities of the students from SC/ST category. However, those are not provided so much for the students of OBC/General category.

Our university has an continuous evaluation system, which means that exams are conducted quite frequently. While sometimes it seems to get a little hectic, but this also ensures that a lot to studies is not burdened onto us and keeps a check that students do their studies properly from time to time.

I do not know about the other courses, so commenting about them would be wrong. But the faculty of my department, that is, sociology, is the best set of faculty i have ever seen or experienced in my entire life. The professors are so intellectual, yet friendly and down to earth. They are always approachable. I love each one of them.
