Remarks

Vasavi college of engineering is very good interms of faculty, extra curricular activities and a good place to learn the ropes of engineering education.

Entrance Preview

EAMCET is the entrance test one has to take to get in to this college. Reputation of college being Top tier private engg college and placements are the 2 factors which I weighed in before selecting this college. I got 6000+ rank in EAMCET and got in to this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum was decided by the Osmania University board as the VCE is affiliated to the OU. And curriculum is on par with other universities. Most of the advanced topics are covered, but in few of the courses, it was not revamped from past few years as on 2004.

Internships Opportunities

There is no formal summer internship process during 2004. We used to do two types of projects. 1) Industry visit which used to for 15 days time where we were guided by the senior professor to the various industries(related to the Engg.background) where we used to learn the various fundas being implemented in practice. 2) Another one is college project which is upto the students to find out the mentor/professor under which they have to complete the project as per the guidelines. Most of the students used to do the projects under the guidance of senior professors.

Placement Experience

4

All of the leading companies used to visit the college during campus placements. College used to arrange for an extra coaching classes for the students to ace the aptitude tests of the IT companies. These coupled with the inputs from seniors plays a major role during placements.

College Events

4

Euphoria is one the celebrated college fests across the Hyderabad. There used to tech paper presentations, competitions, music and fun used to take place during this time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Structure in 2000-04 was Rs. 35,000 per year if the student is opted for payment seat. Rs 5,000 per year, if it was free seat. ( these details might not be applicable now)

Fees and Financial Aid

Some of the students used to get the state government sponsored scholarships based on their economic background.

Campus Life

3.5

Various technical workshops for the students from electrical, mechanical, computers and electronics backgrounds used to take place the college. These workshops used to fill the knowledge gaps. Students used to take active participation in conducting various cultural festivals in the college.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

This is not a residential college so hostel facilities is not applicable here. However outstation students wants to get in to college have a good options in and around the college as college is situated in Golconda, Hyderabad which is pretty near to Hitech City, Appa junction, Langer house which have various hostels, PG options for the people based on their budget.

Alumni/Alumna

Since college was established in early 1980's, it has very huge and active alumni network. Most of the guys established themselves in senior roles in various fields which an important factor as college tries to establish regular contacts with them.

Exam Structure

Exams and Labs were conducted at the regular intervals. Space between the exams is ample so the students can think back about positives and shortcomings and work towards achieve the goals.

Faculty

4

Faculty of core engineering subjects were top notch. Few of the lecturers were having industry experience coupled with years of teaching experience. Visiting faculty used to bring outside perspective to the table and it was enriching experience to listen to them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I felt that entire curriculum needs to be changed, since there are many useless subjects that are irrevalant to software engineering in CSE. I also felt subjects like c,c++, java needs to be replaced with python and web development subject should be replaced with something like nextjs. Initially I thought the syllabus and curriculum was good untill 3rd year of my Btech degree. The curriculum of jntuh is outdated in terms of real world. Teaching methods are ok though it needs minor improvements in some areas. The frequency of exams is same, you get semester exams and supply exams , you will have more chances to clear you backlogs, my advice is to clear backlogs in same year or try not getting any backlogs in engineering. timing of exams is usually after every 6 months out of which we usually have 180 or more working classes days. And in between we get sundays, holidays, events and other things. Semester exams are difficult especially subjects like mathematics or electronic subjects like ADE, which is irrelavant to CS.
