Remarks
All together the college lifestyle and infrastructure is great. The college rules are very rigid and strict and some of them are not very easy to follow. Some influencial teachers lack empathy and some of the professors are very helpful. Altogether a college with good life for students except for a few things here and there.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was okay. Specific to my course. The psychology curriculum was very well thought out. And psychology association also made a lot of effort to ensure proper understanding of the subject involved with other fun activities. There's experiments conducted that help you get a deeper understanding of the subject. Experience and exposure given to us in the performing arts field could have been more. On field experience wasn't encouraged enough. Lot of exposure within the department in terms of performances in college. As to the outside world, doesn't prepare us adequately to deal with life outside of college as artists. Course hasn't equipped us witj enough skills to move forward in the direction of art.
Placement Experience
My particular course did not have placements offered for performing arts. As that was my interest I hadnt applied for placements. Every year required us to do an internship in performing arts as that was our main major. I did my internship in mumbai, with a theatre group, named patchworks ensemble, founded by Sheena Khalid and Puja Sarup.
College Events
There are many festivals that take place throughout the year. There's atleast 2 fests happening in a month. Cultural events are very big and of so much importance in the university. Students are encouraged across courses to take part. Many other fests are held. Regarding management and a lot of other courses.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since I was an NRI at the point of admission, my fee was double the fee of students from the state. Account transfers and card payments accepted. College provides every student with a bank account that can be used personally but mostly for college purposes. As a student from the state, I think the course is feasible. As an NRI student I feel it's a tad bit unfair, the pricing is double. And it did not make sense to me.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were no scholarship options for performing arts. There was an option in English and Psychology for transfers. As I haven't opted for that, do not have much knowledge in the same respect.
Campus Life
The gender ratio was pretty neutral. There were lot of associations and a lot of activities held under the associations. Both educational and cultural events. There were students from all around the country. And also many foreign students. The cultural diversity was major. There were no issues regarding tolerance in terms of race and ethnicity. There is an event held every year to celebrate different ethnicities called ethnic day which celebrated everyone from different parts of the world. There wasn't a great tolerance for sexual orientation on hear say basis. There were secret groups but not many people were able to fully be out in the open but that also goes to say about general mentality. But it wasn't encouraged also. Boys dressing up differently or girls dressing up from outside the dresscode were not necessarily encouraged to own thier realities. Economic status didn't come into play as such but not having faced any such issues is also the reason of not having an opinion on the same. Multiple times, a breach in attendance requirement, or id card requirement, always resulted in paying an expensive fee.
Alumni/Alumna
Connection between seniors and juniors are good. It is also encouraged in the university. Helps build a bond. And also is helpful in dealing with the course and college lifestyle. There is an alumni day, where all alumnis are invited to college for a day. Where everyone can meet thier teachers and a special performance is put up for them.
Admission
Through interview and sports quota. The infrastructure of the college is beautiful. The college lifestyle. As a graduate from school, was a football player and was very interested in the college football team. Wanted to choose psychology and no other college offered psychology with such an interesting combination of performing arts and english. Admission process involved application. A date for interview was given, and once the interview was over in a day or two, you'd receive information about selectioy.
Faculty
Psychology involved around 6 teachers over the course of 3 years. All with immense knowlege in the field. Able to answer questions very easily and also properly to the students. Ranging between the age of 30-45. Most of them with PhD or working on it. English involved approximately 9-10 professors over the course of the 3 years. All were able to explain in such depth. The classes were not only interesting in terms of subject but also involved discussions on very relevant topics.
