Remarks :
College has been treating me well. I never imagined that I'd be so connected with it. The people are amazing, the teachers are lovely and the campus feels as my second home.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The examination structure is somewhat same like any other college or university, we have semester exams. Other than that, we have internal assessments, projects, assignments, presentations, and viva. These assignments and course curriculum is mostly research driven and is always relevant to the tourism field. Teachers usually share their industrial experience with us. All these knowledge can surely secure us our on-campus placements. Moving forth, till now we haven't done any industrial visit.
Placement Experience :
I think, department of tourism has decent on-campus placement. Few companies come for recruitment and our seniors have availed it too. Our department provide us training in the 7th semester and I'm surely going to avail it. As of now, I have interned with a company in my summer break last year, which is after my 2nd semester exams. Department prepare students before the placement session as well, teaching them key methods and sharpening their interviewing skills.
College Events :
Our university celebrate all kinds of events, be it cultural, technical, sports or festival events. Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university and is almost 100 years old. Whatever be the event about, in Jamia it's going to be huge. Our department plans an annual fest, which goes by the name Safarnama. We get sponsors and plan every type of activities in it. It's always special to be a part of the team and manage such events.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university so, most of it's course have very less fees and is very affordable. It ranges around 5,000-8,000rs in bachelor's but tourism department is semi-private which means it's self financed. So, my fees is 30,000rs annually.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
No, I have not applied for any of the scholarships. And yes, there are scholarships available for students and there are many of them available. Especially, for the girls, PWD and who are less fortunate. There's a seperate office for all the scholarships and details.
Campus Life :
Campus Life is wonderful, over here. The campus is vast and there's greenery everywhere. Gender ratio is 40:60 ; female : male. You can feel diversity and freedom everywhere on the campus. Zero discrimination regardless of your colour, creed, religion. The extracurricular activities, labs, sports and competition are outstanding. Everyone is among the best in their respective fields.
Hostel Facilities :
I haven't opted for one because I reside nearby to it. Jamia hostels are very affordable and very good. I suppose 70% of the total applied students get admission in the hostel. The university is still short of the hostel and hopefully they are going to build another building for it soon as it's currently being made. The annual fees is 5000rs, including everything.
Alumni/Alumna :
Jamia's alumni network is vast and huge and it is spreaded all around the globe. So, where ever you go you'll find an Jamia alumni. And ofcourse, they are helpful and especially the senior students.
Admission :
I've always liked travelling and exploring new places and meeting new people therefore I wanted to pursue my career in something in which I could follow my passion and plus I had figured out that I'm not a desk person, who can sit and work on the same desk all day long so, that's why I took BTTM. My university is among the best universities in India. I reside nearby to the university so, it would have always been better if I could get admission and study here. My performance in my class 12th boards exam was, unfortunately, not oustanding but I had a relief knowing that in Jamia every course has it's entrance exam. I had filled the entrance examination form before hand when it was out, like around March and April. I prepared for the entrance extensively and fortunately scored good marks. Moving forth, the selected candidates' list came out and my name was among the selected students. I couldn't believe that I cleared the exam and that too in the first attempt itself. I completed all the admission formalities and documents verification. The session started soon and I attended my orientation program and now I am here in my 2nd Academic year, exploring and learning new things each day!
Faculty :
We have number of lecturers in our department. All of them are very well qualified and everyone has industrial experience, be it in railways, air transportation, corporate or be it in teaching. We have all age group teachers, most of them are middle aged but we even have PhD scholars, who are not that old and we even have lecturers who might have crossed 50. So, yes, we have expert teachers and lecturers who can mentor, guide, shape our futures and make us more professional time by time.
