Remarks
One of the most reputed colleges in Kerala, TKM stands at position 2 among the engineering colleges under KTU. The safety within the campus is very high and the entire area has been covered under CCTV surveillance. It is one of the few colleges providing an 8:00 pm curfew for women. The admission process is simple and well organised and took place in the month of July with the classes starting on August 3, 2016. The college provides eyes breaking cum orientation platform in the beginning and is very serious about their academic performance. It encourages students to advance in all fields including sports (highly valued within the campus), social works (including NSS, STEPS foundation), and many other technology platforms. It is one of the best colleges to study in terms of college life as it is government aided and hence enjoys all privileges of a govt college. However, the placements at concentrated towards IT jobs and branches like CIVIL and Mechanical placements are very low.
Course Curriculum Overview
The quality of education in the campus is very high. The faculty is highly qualified and supportive in terms of academics as well as co-curricular activities. Each student is assigned with an advisor on the command of a senior advisor who in turn reports to the Head of the Department of each branch. There are ample amount of professors on the campus with years of experience, following a very systematic method of teaching. Even if nothing else happens the exams will happen on time, so no worry about it.
Placement Experience
The students are eligible for college placements from S7. Several companies visit the campus including Byjus app, Accenture, TCS, Federal bank, Infosys, L&T, MRF etc. The highest salary offered is around 7lakhs per annum and the minimum is 2 lakhs per annum. The average package is around 3.5 lakhs per annum. Over 50% of the students get placed. However, placements in Civil and Mechanical branches are very poor.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is pretty consistent and takes only the government assigned yearly fees for merit candidates. In addition to this students have to pay the university exam registration amount every semester which comes around 1700/- every semester. A large number of scholarships are available for those in the BPL or needing other scholarship schemes. The placement cell of the college also helps with the provision of campus placements with an average package of 3.5 lakhs per annum.
Campus Life
The annual feast of the college is Hestia, which is a National level techno-cultural fest aimed at the complete participation of each and every student within the college. There is a full-fledged library for the college which promotes both online as well as offline surfing and learning. All amenities are present as part of the college which includes good toilets, clean drinking water, coffee shop, canteen, a book store, a print store, general store etc. All sports activities are promoted by the college which includes Basketball, Football, tennis, volleyball, chess, badminton and many more with specialised areas allocated to each. The several groups run by students include IEDC, NSS, STEPS, IEEE, ICI student chapter etc.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are small and the toilet facilities are less as compared to the number of inmates. TKM is well known for their hostel mess and therefore one can be sure about getting good food. The registration process for a hostel is simple and is done along with the initial college registration itself.
