Remarks

Talking about the college management it is very good, but about the college administration, it's really bad. They hardly listen to any problem from the students. As it is a government college, no one really cares. They have to make their own money. Over all I will say a very good college with good faculties and students with bad administration.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is not very much advanced but it's good compared to other colleges. As it is an university itself, it has the authority to change the course as per it's need. So no need to worry about the curriculum or course. And getting marks or CGPA in this college is not that easy in branch like ECE, otherwise in branches like CSE and Mechanical it's easy to maintain a CGPA above 8. The course is also not so hectic, so you will get a lot of leisure time to enjoy your life.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement in this college is pretty much good. As you know 2020 is corona year, so can't predict about the placement of 2021 batch, as it's almost very hard time going all over the world. But talking about the 2020 batch. Ahh they are very much content with the placements. Most of the companies coming here to recruit is mass recruiter, which will pay you 3. 5-4. 5 lpa. But also some good companies like Aditya Birla, Deloitte, Amazon, L& T, Bitibe, NINELEAPS, Vedanta, Bhusan, TATA(i can't remember much, but more than 30 companies which give you dream package which is 6-20 lpa, which pick 5-30 students depending upon their requirements) etc. Also the mass recruiting companies offer you to sit for higher package which is 6-8 lpa. If you are talented enough, you will grab it. Name any mass recruiter company, they have been to our college in 2020. I know people with 4-5 job offers. And minimum is 1 job offers. I can assure you that if you don't have any backpaper and you are a little smart, they you won't go bare-handed from here.

College Events

5

The events are like this 1. Branch welcome(the first thing you will see in this college) 2-Branch farewell 3-Vassaunt (cultural fest) OK. The Vassaunt is actually loaded with very much fun. You can't compare it with that of IITs and NITs, but it's very nice in its own level. You can see many national stars performing on the stage. 3 days loaded with numbers of performances. 4-Samavesh (Tech Fest) The tech fest is pretty much equipped as you can search that VSSUT is the first and only (till now) college with an Space incubation centre made by ISRO and also the robotics is under some top ranks in india. Adding some national level hackathons and some packed fun events like DJ night and star night it is very much happy environment. 5-TEDx VSSUT- Yes, VSSUT has got the rights from TED to conduct it's own TED event borrowing some great talents in india. ILLUMINA- the 2 day sports event which I think no need to describe as everyone is aware about sports events. 6-Many hostel events. Many other events take place as per their requirements and different with time. Also adding some hostel events, it is very much equipped with events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is 80k/year including hostel fees and mess, if you are not self sustaining student. As it is government college, it is very much affordable. The mode of payments are offline and online both. There is a bank inside the college which helps you in this. There are no additional fees, but you have to collect some chandas during your branch fests which is very less I guess and also in return you will get a t-shirt.

Fees and Financial Aid

You will get a scholarship of 10000 per year if you are from odisha state government and your income is less than 8lpa. Otherwise I don't think you need to take any loan for this fees. And also if you want to take any loan, you can get easily, which I don't think that will be hard to repay if you get a job.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is very much content. Though it is an open campus. It has it's own advantages. It is connected to the town and that's why you are free to move everywhere. Gender ratio is 6:4. Which pretty good I guess. Even in mechanical and civil branch you will get many beautiful girls. You will find a Club for everything I guess. Art, robotics, science, rocketery, baja, entrepreneurship, dramatics, supra, literary (many more left to be named). All providing you enough opportunities. Though some of them have their own politics issue which can be good for you if you know how to make it or bad for you. Otherwise you will see very much open minded people here, supporting seniors and a totally different culture of senior junior which will make you fall in love with this.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes. The hostel rooms are not that much good. 4 students sharing rooms. Now it may decrease because many hostels are building up. The hostel and mess fees are included in the total fees which I have mentioned. Food is provided 3 times a day for boys hostel and 4 times a day for girls hostel. For boys you can get out of the hostel at any time and roam around the whole city. It's totally a packed memory with lots of fun. You can go anywhere anytime, no restrictions. For girls I am sorry but the intime is 6. 30-7 pm. The hostels are not that good, but you will surely fall in love with them after some years. What else to expect with this low fees. And talking about the internet connection, it is anytime more than 3MBps(Bytes) for wifi. And talking about the LAN connection, you will get 10MBps and in common room upto 20-30 MBps. I am not bluffing, but it is the best connection across odisha.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very strong as it is the oldest engineering college in odisha. And many people are distributed all over the world. Seniors depending upon their personality, they may be very much helping or may be a retard. But mostly you will get a caring senior which will surely motivate and direct you towards a better life. Some may distract you with some bad habits, but it's totally upto you.

Admission

You have to qualify JEE MAINS exam and clear the cutoff to get into this college. The cutoff is generally under 50k rank for Cse but may increase upto 200k for other branches. The admission process is offline and you have to go on a given date to register.

Faculty

4

The faculty, specially the teachers are mostly done with their phd, with some of them from the IITs and NITs. They are pretty content with the knowledge of the subject and they can help you really nice. Just you have to personally approach them for the doubt. Also they are very much helping during the exam times. The lab attendants are also very much friendly and with the whole faculty staff. You will see yourself making a bond upto the final year.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree
