Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is one of the best among marine engineering courses, it has right blend of theory and practical learnings.For practicals, in house workshop is there & 2 months of exposure to Mazgaon Docks Shipbuilding yard.Our course was one of the unique course in industry, as it was designed to prepare cadets for deck as well as engine side duties, which doesn't exist anywhere in India.
Placement Experience
Companies visiting campus for placements are : shipping corporation of India, Essar Shipping, Anglo eastern. College is not much serious for securing placement for students.However students are able to get placements after passing out from college.
College Events
Model making & Hobby competition, IMU foundation day, National shipping day, Castrol, sports week, IME, transtech etc.While college also supports students for participation in other institute's cultural, technical and sports festival. Our students are regular participants at toolani techfest, ICT sports week.
Fee Structure And Facilities
College provides transparency in fees breakdown. Payment method accepted were by demand draft or banker's cheque in my time, however with Changi times they may have adopted online payments. Fees payment was year wise during our time. However they may have changed fees payment rotation to semester wise.
Fees and Financial Aid
Didn't avail loan or any scholarships, but it's easily available.Most banks are ready to assist. In Byculla central bank is there, which is ready to provide loan for this institute.
Campus Life
Very few female students join marine engineering courses, students get full exposure to participate in all types of sports activities, be it cricket, volleyball, basketball, swimming, table tennis, badminton etc. At frequent intervals, many types of intra and inter College competition are there.
Hostel Facilities
Yes & it's mandatory. Hostel is well equipped with all the modern facilities.Best of equipment are there in hostel gym, big tv screen & table tennis playing table is also there.CCTV camera is installed.Fresh water drinking fountain is at all the floor.Special attention is paid to cleanliness.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is one of the strongest. Alumni are always ready to guide, mentor and help. Most of the alumni are at top position of shipping companies.
Admission
I got admission in this college in 2009 through IIT JEE extended merit list, however,at current times,you have to appear for IMU CET exam.This college is one of the oldest government Marine Engineering college & it's old name was DMET.Now a days, it's online counseling & allotment of college.
Faculty
Any weekday in college was like classes from morning 9:00 am to evening 5:00 pm. All the faculties were highly experienced & had illustrious career behind them, before joining our college as faculty members.All of them were in the ranks of captain or chief engineers.some personality development courses are also conducted by institute.
