Remarks

Good thing is the Best college for architecture in India where you can learn a lot. Bad thing is old campus. Hostel is 10 kms away. Also the pressure of the course. We are given homeworks and need to all night long work often.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course is design based. We have arts subjects like visual arts and also engineering subjects like theory of structures. Some subjects like seminar and dissertation and research based also. We are given computer training for software also. The final semester is thesis where we have to imply all our learning. Also in 8th semester we have to do a compulsory intership as per the course. We are given B. Arch degree.

Placement Experience

2.5

The college has a placement cell. They invite MNCs in the college. Students get good package. But so many students start their own architectural firm. In internship college doesn't help much. We ourselves make our portfolio and look for internships.

College Events

5

Foundation Day - On this day students are given awards. Convocation Day - Passed out students are awarded degree. Mini Utopia - Cultural fest in odd semester Utopia - Cultural fest in even semester Weekly special lectures - Every Wednesday special guests mainly architects are invited to throw lecture to the students. Mini Athlos - Sports event. Athlos - Sports event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Tuition fee is ?52, 000. Hostel fee is ?19, 000. Mess fee is ?25, 000. Hostel is not compulsory. Local students must travel from their homes. For current first years the tuition fee is hiked to ?97, 000. As compared to other national colleges it might seem feasible. But it is also true we have spend so much externally for the course like huge printouts and making models. No additional charges are taken.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't opted for any scholarship of educational loan. College has scholarship program but they are only available for financially backward students.

Hostel Facilities

2

Yes. Hostel rooms are must sharing for 1st years. From second years we are given single room. But with consent we can share the room. Hostel rooms are good. Food is not that good. Hostel is provided according to the merit list (Local students excluded). PG rents varies from ?3, 000 - ?12, 000 / month. Depending on the owner it can be sharing too. Students also take flats for rent together.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are really helpful. We often say that we learn more from the seniors than in class. We get the opportunity to meet alumni in different fest. Sometimes, if they feel we are worthey, they offer us internship and even job in their firms.

Admission

Joint Entrance Examination paper 2 is required to get admission. I have the exam in April 2016. The admission process is conducted through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). I couldn't get the college in the 6 rounds. Based on choice and rank. I was in another college for 1 month. Then I got in there in spot round.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college are really good. We have so many visiting faculty. But they are all successful architects. We get to know about the course from the professionals in the field. The permanent faculty are also good. They teach us with care. As architecture is not only assignment based but design based. We get regular crit from the faculty on our design.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In the forst year the faculty will make you do completely dumb and irrelevant stuff which is mostly not related to the real life. You will surely feel like and think in a way that why you are doing all this, but slowly the curriculum will get difficult and would have real world applications. In the starting you should improve your drafting and most importantly you should procastinate your work and should learn the importance of time management.

I chose the course because of my passion for buildings, the faculty is very dedicated and teacehrs put in alot of hard work with the students. The gender ratio is impressively 1:1. The professors are from good colleges themselves and the teaching methodology is that of an experienced person in the feild. Exams take place annually, semester marking is done on the basis of internal assisment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it is very practical, you don't have to be in class, you can go out, explore and learn. I love to draw and design. The faculty-student ratio is 1:40 Teachers are good and helpful .they all are architects and everyone has a totally different view of your design. There are 2 semesters, so 4 unit tests and 2 yearly exams, the theory exams are fine but the practical ones where you have to present your work in front of a juror are tough. it is not necessary if they'll like your design or not .so they can give you fewer marks.

Remarks:

Overall, there are lots of negative remarks on SPA DELHI. They do not even provide basic facilities for the fees they take. Even what little facilities that exists are very poorly maintained. The lifts does not work more often than not, the coolers for drinking water are outdated and filters unchanged, fire extinguishers outdated, poor parking facilities, no grounds for sports related activities, no air conditioners in the classroom for the unbearable Delhi heat, very poor provision of funds, non-existent placement cells, and the lists goes on.
