Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum srictly revolves around on field experiences that you can learn from. For example, being a planner involves real life plan preparation and stakeholder involvement. Throughout the studios, you'll be making a plan (hierarchy of plans increase with each semester) with data collected by your class on site, respective departments and stakeholder engagement. This is a best way to prepare us for real world scenarios. Theory exams are conducted at the end of each semester, but studios carry the highest weightage.

Internships Opportunities

5

Aftwr the completion of second and third year of the cources you are suppoeed to do internships respectively. The college wont find internships for you, but facilitates if nothing comes your way. Finding an internship depends on tou and its not a hard task finding one as you can always find an alumni in some organisation anywhere.

Placement Experience

3

From your final year, you are eligible to sit for placements. But considering the planning field, 90% of the students pursue higher education. Placement from college is average as the max CTC you can get is 8LPA for bachelors. Companies like CBRE, L&T, Unitrans, LEA Associates, AECOM, CSE, CEEW etc are the major hirers. I am personally interested in pursuing higher education after my bachelors.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees per semester including tuition fee, activity fee, library fee etc. is 49,000 for Gen/ OBC and 29,000 for SC/ST. In the first senester you'll have to pay an additional amount of 20,000 as security deposit which will be returned back. Hostel fee amount to 27,000 and mess 35,000. There are various scholarship options if you belong to EWS and other backward classes which cover up the tuition fees like National Scholarship Programe and so on.

Campus Life

5

Campus loge is AMAZING! You get go meet people from all over the country, celebrate their festivals, have college fests every semester and what not. Every month you get to celebrate atleast one festival with the traditional food . There are 13 various societies in the college and the fun part is that you can be a part of how many ever you want. Its so much fun and helps you grow a lot. All classes are well equipped with projectors. Sports facilities are limited due to the smaller area of campus. We have a volleyball court and at hostel we jave basketball court, pool, table tennis, badminton, etc. Theres also a gym and gym park in hostel.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostels are mediocre and limited and high in demand. They are alloted based on merit. Hostel infrastructure is minimal with a bed, table, chair, cupboard and electrical fixture in a room. Mess facility is horrible with fixed menu since ages. Affordability of hostel makes it high in demand despite its conditions since cost of living outside is very high. If youre looking for a PG, Kotla, Laxmi Nagar, etc are the nearest places.

Admission

I was preparing for architecture and had made it to reputed colleges like CEPT, NITs, JMI, and CET. Paralley i got B.Plan at SPA too. Out of curiosity, i had went through the syllabus and it captivated me more than what i was preparing for. Fore getting into SPA, you'll have to give JEE-II which will be conducted alongside JEE. If you get a decent rank, voila! you get a seat.

Faculty

4

Right now, the faculty student ratio stands at an average of every 7 students having 1 faculty. Faculties are the highlight of the college making it one of its kind. All faculties are approachable and help you widening your thinking spectrum, not only in academics but also in your interests. Like a coin has two sides there are faculties who dont make sense at all and some who dwell on being biased. but well finding them is a 1% probability

Architecture was the main goal but i ended up in planning. Looking at how I could work just a few hours lesser than architecture students, i thought this would be easier. Its not. You need to be careful while choosing this course. Its not just an easy pie.

Placement Experience:

There are two internships (mandatory). One in the end of 2nd year another in the end of 3rd year. Both of them are of 6 weeks. It's all on us where we want to do and we select our best preference then college sends out letter of recommendation and then and if accepted good otherwise college will send u to DDA and other government offices. There are placements after bachelors but it's recommended to complete masters before doing job. It increases your market value exponentially

Placement cell is very weak in college for undergraduate courses. Maximum package in the range of 4-6 lakhs per annum. The majority of the students apply for master in planning courses or MBA. Eligibility for government jobs is also after master's in planning courses.

Remarks:

The college has brought out the best in me. What I always wanted to do in my Life (Architecture), I'm living that Life now. The college does its best to bring out the ideas and creativity hidden in every student. However, this brings out lots of pressure and work load on students. Most of them does their best, gives their hard and soul and they do great. But some can't handle their pressure and they give up. So, the college can do something as of which the students burden lightens up and it's not a pain to them anymore. Moreover, the college being a government college, the administration works really slow. This is one of the drawback of the college.

Remarks:

Every college has some good things for which they are known. However, since nothing is perfect, there are some drawbacks of the college as well.SPA, Delhi is one of the best architecture colleges in India and therefore the knowledge you get from here is outstanding. The faculties are interactive but they make you work like crazy. But that's how we go about it. The fest and the other activities are very fun and there is no way any one misses it. However, the drawback would be how the administration works. SPA being a Government college, lacks behind how the office works and how the cleanliness isn't maintained. This issue is trying to be solved, but other than that evrything seems normal.
