Remarks

The teaching staff is good and decent. The college doesn't take much interest on students of unaided or non financed students. They are not offered foreign field visit or participation at a higher post in college festivals. The management of the college is very bad and not systematic. The students of Bcom are not given information that there is will be lectures or not due to any reason of the teacher absent. The lectures go free and many students who travel from far off places feel it pain to come and waste that time early in the morning.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The exams are conducted by the college itself except for graduation which is conducted by The University of Mumbai. The course teaches you the basic details of commerce as an overall like law, advertising, accounts, economics being the core subjects. The college committees organize industrial visit which is not compulsory to join and charge a fee for it.

Placement Experience

2.5

Some of the placements are HSBC, ACNielsen, Edelweiss, JP Morgan Chase, etc. These companies come to college and select students on the basis of interview and grades. The professors help the students if you ask for help.

College Events

2.5

Many activities are organized by the cultural committee like book bank, food fest, Book Handi on Janmashtami, etc. The college even has NSS who organize various activities. The main event that the college holds is Enthusia which is of bms/baf/bfm. There is very less participation from the bcom sector as there is more involvement of financed section. This fest was just introduced this year 2020.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for unaided course is comparatively less than that of aided courses. The fee is paid by the medium of demand draft. The college provides a list of the fee breakdown which is accurate. For any additional event like industrial visit or crew clothes for fest is to be paid separately.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides scholarship to those students with the highest grades. There are reserved seats for students of minority quota and Caste.

Campus Life

1.5

There are people of lower as well upper class. There is no discrimination of any basis of caste, religion, race, etc. Everyone is given equal opportunity. There is reserved seats for people of ST/SC, minority quota and political status. The college has one of the best sports team. The college focuses on sports students alot.

Alumni/Alumna

There is not much interaction with senior students as the college timing is different for each course & year. Only during some college event or activity there may be some kind of interaction.

Admission

Due to high cut off in the financed courses and Sindhi quota was not able to get in. I chose Bcom as a backup option and the cut off was low. You need to collect a form from the college by paying Rs100 and fill it with all the details required like aadhar card copy, ssc & hsc marksheet copies with passport size photograph attached during submission.

Faculty

2.5

There are approx 4-5 lectures per day with a break. There are approx 400 students in Bcom as it is an unaided course. There are different teachers for same subjects at times to complete the portion on time. It becomes confusing at times to cope up with different teachers teaching same subject so many students prefer learning ok their own and not attend lectures. There is no industry experience certification yet.

Course Curriculum Overview:

One of the key aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the B.Com course at Sydenham College was its strong foundation in core commerce subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, and Finance. The structured progression from basic to advanced concepts, along with exposure to subjects like taxation and auditing, made the program particularly appealing for students aiming for careers in finance, CA, CS, or management.

Placements society of college is just a decade old and still top companies like Zues Capital, Barclays, and Icici bank are among the top colleges that have become a part of ecosystem where 30-40 students is what each companies hires every year. Not many though as too many sections and 500+ students means getting placed even half the students can be a task where Mithibai placement percentage is 60 odd percentage.

Impeccable, amazing and unbelievable are the placements here. For B.Com which is as always a crowded college, making sure 60-70% students have placements through campus is a task not less than climbing everest. So definitely all I can say is our college has done so well that it is now the first choice college for commerce not just among Mumbaikars but overall as well.
