Remarks

College management is not up to the mark. The renovation works are not properly executed. The construction of new mega hostel works are took more than 5 years.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum are similar to the other college curriculum of the similar course. Since Institute is deemed one, the exams are conducted by College its self and exam evaluation is also done by Institute. I don’t believe that course curriculum is not groomed to provide industry specific knowledge to the students. So the students are struggling in the campus placements due to lack of industry specific knowledge. The industrial visits should be arranged by students them selves. There is no compulsory for the students to do the industrial visits as part of the course. The industrial visits should be arranged by students them selves.

Placement Experience

3

There is more than 100 companies visits the campus each year. Most of the companies are looking candidates for the software field. Companies like Goldman Sachs, Oracle, Schindler Elect etc visits the campus each year. Most of the companies shortlist the students based on the CGPA. After that conduct aptitude and technical exams, GD and interview as part of there recruitment process. Circuit branches like CSE, ECE and EEE register highest number of placements in each year. In these beaches about 75 percentage students gets placements. But very few core companies are coming for other branches. There is only 1 or 2 companies are taking the students for internships. Since I am not interested in soft war companies I didn’t got campus placements.

College Events

3.5

The NIT Calicut is famous for their cultural fest RAGAM. Where college all over South India compete each other in various categories like dance, fashion show, singing, football, basketball etc. Technical fest of NIT Calicut is named as Tathva. Where lots of technology related competitions, workshops and exhibitions are conducted.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As compared to the state government engineering colleges the fee structure is not feasible. The approximate fee was about 20k. But now it’s doubled. We can pay fees by online and offline modes. There is no additional charge to be paid in order to secure an admission to the course. There is no transparency in the fee breakdown. Fee should be paid before the start of each semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

I got Merit cum mean scholarship. In that I got my entire course fee. It’s available for all minorities students from Muslim, Christian communities.

Campus Life

3

The campus life was very good. I enjoyed a lot. There is enough space for all sport. There will be regular competitions conducted by various clubs. There is no politics in the campus. I didn’t feel any religions or any other kind of discrimination from the students or authorities. Their ratio of male to female ratio is very high.

Hostel Facilities

4

I’m opted for hostels. There is old and new buildings. The rooms in new buildings are clean and tidy. There is enough hostels for accommodating all students. In the first three years rooms are sharing. It any 2, 3 or 4 sharing based on the room size. The hostel facilities are ok. Food is also very good.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an alumni association there we can interact with our seniors regarding job referral and all.

Admission

National Institute of Technology NITs are the prestigious institutions in the country. Studying students from various states. The admission to the institute is based the entrance examinations conducted all over the country. The JEE main is the entrance examination for the B-Tech course which is previously known as AIEEE. Based on the rank obtained from the examinations students get the branches that they are applied in the allotment process.

Faculty

3

There will be about 100 permanent facilities in our course with average age of 40 years. Additional to the permanent facilities there will lots of guest facilities. Most of the permanent facilities are PhD holders. And others having minimum master qualification. A 80 percentage permanent facilities are expertise in the subject they are teaching. But most of them don’t have any relevant industry experience or certifications.

Placement Experience:

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
