The college being a design colleges there is no set textbook to refer. We are taught a set portion but out research and extra learning is extremely important. We have to constantly keep exposing ourselves to the industry. It makes us more industry proof and ready to work. The biggest part in any design college is played by our will to self learn. Once we master this and have a thirst for knowledge then the sky is limit. Our department organizes many industrial visits and the portion taught also is relevant and up to date with industry standards. We have jury examination. Industrial experts visit on the day of jury and we explain and put forth our work of the semester and they evaluate us

NIFT college has an initiative called craft cluster. Where the students visit craftsmen in the state of their college. The students visit 2 times for 15 days at a time. The first time is about understanding the craft and documenting the process of making it, connecting with the craftsmen. The next visit consists of learning to make it. It provides a great experience to interact with craftsmen and learning. The college provides internship and graduation project companies. Then before graduation the college provides campus placement. Various fashion industries, design houses recruit students. The faculty also helps the students to get a job. Nift also provides a exchange program with fit newyork. And also provides summer courses abroad.

Nift celebrates two major events: spectrum and converge. The spectrum is a college fest for each branch of college. The converge is a sports and compitetion event between all the nifts countrywide. The spectrum event has it's flagship fashion show where the students display beautiful garments done during the semester.

The fee structure is feasible. My program is for textile design. The fee ranges from 1.5 lakh to 1.8 lakh per semester. It's includes the resource center. The college provides complete breakdown of the fee structure. Nift Mumbai provides a hostel facility for which we have to pay separately.

No I didn't opt for scholarship. It offers a program for the lesser privileged. The students can avail it once they get admission in the college.

The campus life is no match to any other college. The students are free and can express their mind freely. The college atmosphere is very accepting. Anyone can be whatever they want without any judgement. The college has events time to time. Students also organize many events. The students have started a magazine and students provide a lot of art and writings and photos and viewpoints. The college is highly decorated with student's works as a design college should be. There is a canteen and nesCafe at campus. The life here is free and non judgemental and happening.

Yes I have opted for hostel. The hostel is a four winged 10 stories building. It has different types of rooms at different rates. 17 Sharing dormitory, 7 share ac dorm, 4share dorm, twin share rooms, twin share ac rooms. The mess is compulsory and amounts to 40000 per year. The room costs depend on the room or dorm you choose. The cheapest accommodation is the 17 share dorm. While the ac twin share is costly. The total fee consist of mess fees too.

The seniors of the college are very helpful, since very little is known about this field, everyone helps everyone with all the knowledge they have.

I was interested in designing and creativity. I got to know about the govt design colleges. And I decided to prepare for it's entrance exam through the coaching classes offered by silica. I gave the entrance of Nift college After giving the first entrance in January I got qualified for the second one held in may. The first entrance is based of creative and mental aptitude. When I qualified this exam I was able to attend the second exam held at center which tests ones ability to handle 3d projects. Once I qualified this exam I got a rank based on my scores. This rank then determines on which day of the admission process do you get to choose your centre across India

Our college faculty is experienced in the industry. They know how the industry works and they help us everytime we ask. The best part is that our teachers are very open and accepting and always encourage students for their new ideas. The faculty is subject relevant. The faculty is highly educated with many of the professors having a doctorate in their subjects. They use a variety of resources available at campus and also provided by themselves.
