- I didn't liked the the 90:10 Girl/Boy ratio.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Fashion Communication Course at NIFT Delhi was quite comprehensive in terms of providing students with opportunities for different skill developments. Most of the curriculum was practical, requiring creative skills as well as practical skills. Overall, the FC course offered us the opportunity to develop skills such as photography, graphic design, visual merchandising, writing, etc. Exams were mainly held every six months.
Internships Opportunities
I was offered multiple internship opportunities at the NIFT Delhi campus applying for major companies such as Times Internet, Tata, Vogue, etc. However, I picked up an educational sector foundation called Vikalp India Private Limited for a 16-week internship, with a monthly stipend of Rs 8,000. I did my internship in video production and it was a very helpful experience in terms of outcomes such as video editing skills, video shooting process, and other important factors.
Placement Experience
The National Institute of Fashion Technology offers on-campus placement for its students during the latter part of the last semester, depending upon the course. I graduated during the COVID-19 lockdown period in 2020, thus campus placements couldn't be held. However, our NIFT did provide us with online placement opportunities via email. Fashion Design student often goes for the highest package and as far as I can remember, the highest package was Rs 24,0000 lakh per annum, and the average package was around Rs 600,000 lakhs for the whole college.
Fees and Financial Aid
My fee structure was around approximately Rs 700,000 in total for the 8 semesters that I completed between 2016 and 2020 class for the Bachelor of Design Course in Fashion Communication at National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. Following are the detailed breakup of per year fee structure during the aformentioned period for the b.des course at NIFT Delhi: - 1st Year Fee: Rs 1.50 Lakhs (1st sem + 2nd Sem) - 2nd Year Fee: Rs 1.65 Lakhs (3nd sem + 4rd Sem - 3rd Year Fee: Rs 1.85 Lakhs (5th Sem + 6th Sem) - 4th Year Fee: Rs 2.05 Lakhs (7th Sem + 8th Sem) Fees for other batchmates for categories other than mine could be approximately same for other streams such as under the B.des UG course, and same but I doesn't have the exact details of it as it was between 2016 to 2020.
Campus Life
NIFT Delhi conducts several events within the college campus for students, which helped us in getting more comfortable and open with our classmates. Campus life was good to experience on a daily basis, as infrastructure was good for most of the part. The library at the NIFT Campus has an ample number of magazines and books to explore. Our Classrooms were equipped with modern infrastructure such as Imacs and Digital Projectors. Among sports enthusiasts, sports and extracurricular activities were immensely popular such as badminton, volleyball, cricket, carrom, etc.
Admission
I had only applied for the National Institute of Fashion Technology entrance test and got a good rank, hence moved ahead with it. The admission process at my college required me to pass a two-level entrance test, where the first one was theory and the second one was practical. After which, results are announced and then one needs to attend the counseling session at the nearby center of NIFT choose the available course and center, and submit the required fees and other details. Once you are assigned the desired course and center, you can visit the respective center at the mentioned date and time to fulfill the other documents related submissions.
Faculty
The faculty members for the Fashion Communication course were quite friendly and helpful most of the time. I liked two faculty members the most; their names are Pika Mam and Vishesh Azad Sir. These two honorable faculty members were quite helpful and kind to me. There were none whom I didn't like and even If I disliked them, I can't remember their names. There were a total of 8 exams, equaling the number of semesters. Exams at NIFT Delhi Campus were in accordance, which means they were both challenging and demanded a lot of creativity, which is obvious considering NIFT is a Fashion Design College. During the 2016-2020 period, B.des (FC) class witnessed, as far as I can remember, a total of three students having semester backs. The course Curriculum was appropriate and up to the mark, although I believe, with the changing times, they must have made added required changes to it by now.
