Remarks

Lady Shouri Ram College provides a holistic development opportunity to each and every student. The students are extremely open minded and progressive in their thinking. Every individuals opinion is valued in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is quite efficient. The way the course has been designed makes it an equal balance of theory and practical classes. We have four to six practical classes a week along with the theory classes, so the schedule becomes really hectic. Our course requires every student to write a research paper in second year. Every student also gets to choose a general elective subject for a minor degree. The examination structure is very convenient and stress free for students. We have internal assignment and test for each subject before the end semester exams. The end semester exams have a practical exam for subjects demanding the same. We get a subject wise CGPA along with an overall CGPA.

Placement Experience

4.5

Our college has a very active placement cell. The placements of the statistics department students have been great. More than 12 students were placed out of a batch of 30. Companies like bain and company, McKinsey and company also picked a few students. The college also regularly informs the students about any internship opportunities via mail. The stipend varies from company to company.

College Events

5

The college has department specific fests. The statistics department celebrated their annual fest Moment in February this year. The fest had multiple events organised like a panel discussion, an auction game, a policy framing and case study competition. Many other department fests include Juxtapose, by journalism department, Econovista by the economics department. The fine arts society organises their respective fests. The annual college fest Tarang is usually organised in February but was cancelled this year due to security issues.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is quite feasible. For all the facilities provided in the college, the fee is decent. The fee specifically for statistics is nearly 21000 annually. The fee includes the practical classes fee, the maintenance fee etc. The fee structures vary for pwd students. As it is a college under a government university the fee is very affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

One scholarship that I'm aware about is Cargill global scholars Program. The students who have potential leadership qualities and also have depicted these qualities in the past are granted a scholarship for two academic years. All the company requires the selected candidate to do is attend a national and international Conference. They also assign a personal mentor for the student.

Campus Life

4

The college is an all girls college. We have regular workshops for various courses like excel, my sql etc. The student body comprises of students from all parts of the country and so there is immense cultural diversity in the college. None of the societies or clubs ever discriminate on the basis of race, religion or sexual orientation. We have a society called NSO that solely focuses on sports in college. Their are different societies for dance, music and drama. Apart from these there are societies or clubs for the environment, mental health, analytics, entrepreneurship etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college has an extremely active alumna cell that organises multiple sessions by alumni to prepare us better for our future. The seniors are very supportive and helpful. Each first year student is assigned a mentor who guides the mentee thourough out the semester. The seniors encourage us to participate in various competition and always ready to help or guide us thourough challenges.

Admission

Admissions in Delhi University takes place on a merit based criteria. We first have to apply for the desired courses on the main university portal. The university after a couple of weeks releases a cut off list for different courses under different colleges. The students can check their eligibility and apply online for the college and course they desire and then go for document verification on the assigned dates. After which the student has to pay the fee using the online DU portal. I chose statistics because mathematics as a subject always fascinated me but I also waned to explore analytics because I want to have a career in business analytics.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty in our college especially the Statistics department are very qualified. The teachers are extremely keen on teaching the students. At times the extra curricular activities may hinder the usual schedule of classes but teachers make sure to finish the syllabus. We have regular practical classes for both algebra and statistics. We are well prepared to face the external examiners by the end of the semester.

I will rate 10 out of 7 to this course curriculum because in this course the experiment and lab works is too low as compare to another courses like biomedical science, bsc zoology and many more. But it's ok I'm happy with this course.
