Remarks

The University is the 200 years legacy of most of the successful person in West Bengal living or dead. It also produced 2 Nobel laureate from India. Overall this institute provides everything. I think they should focus on the scholarships and the placement cells to give students an access to companies. It's really disappointing to see students with lower merit gets the job from outside and our students opting for lower pay-scale jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The whole course is made in such a way that you never feel pressurised as well as Making your brain ready for the entrance and future research. The course structure is well maintained and well divided throughout the semesters. For Post graduate they have a year long dissertation program in which we have to work under some faculty's lab, which gives us a lab exposure before going to PhDs. Labs are sometimes hectic and sometimes okay depending on the situation.

Placement Experience

0.5

This is one negative point of our college there is no placement cell and students get no chance for company exposure unless going for a walk in. The stipend system is only for below the poverty level students. But the overall institute fee is nominal @2000 per year

College Events

5

Milieu- the fest Ispat abahon Icon Pucl- presidency University Cricket league PUFL- PRESIDENCY UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL LEAGUE DEPARTMENTAL FRESHERS And also different types of cultural festival throughout the year

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees are very nominal for each semester they charge about 1300 per semester. For one year the cumulative fees would be 2600 per year which is very nominal for each and every student even after coming from a poor background

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't know if any. The students who are form very poor background they opt for scholarships and also for girls there is kanyashree scholarship. Institute has no such particular scholarships except for the BPL scholarship

Campus Life

4

Some of the labs are very good, some are not. The sports experience is awesome. We have our own playing ground and basket ball court. In the winter they organise football and cricket league.there is also indoor games like chess and badminton court inside the university

Alumni/Alumna

There is an alumni cell inside our campus. They are very helpful. I even went there for accessing an outer source and their cooperation was splendid. The alumni are also so open minded to talk to. It's just like an additional positive point

Admission

There is an exam called PUBDET every year in July. That is basically the admission process for undergraduate students. And for post graduate students similar exam PUMDET is conducted by the West Bengal Joint entrance examination board. Life sciences is basically one of the pioneers of the future sciences. Where others busy in studying only one field like botany or zoology or physiology, we get to study everything related to biology so definitely one should go for this stream

Faculty

4.5

Each and every one of them are highly qualified and they are available to every single students. We don't need to go for additional tuition because of their lucid slide presentation and teaching. Specific faculties teaches specific courses and everyone of them are good.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
