Review of Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology

GMIT was not helpful towards the job placements of students. Every student expects to get a good job after their study with the help of their college. But GMIT disappointed all the students with no proactive measures for placements.

The course consists of 4 years of study. The total of 4 years was divided into 8 semesters. The B.Tech course is very hectic in nature. The exams are too frequent. Every six months or so a semester ends. With it, there are numerous labs, assignments, field works. etc.

No internships were offered from the college. The placement cell is not very active. Almost no student got any lucrative job from a campus interview. Some got jobs in irrelevant fields. Some students managed to do internships in their own try.

In the case of events and celebrations, GMIT is very good. Every year there are freshers welcoming ceremonies, Technical Fest et. programs held on the college campus. In the events, well-reputed singers came to the party.

The fee structure is regulated by the university, i.e MAKAUT. The fee is overall not very expensive for engineering studies. The total fees were around 3.5 lacs. It is common and less in comparison to the cost of B.Tech in other cities.

GMIT does offer a scholarship program for students with excellent ranks in Joint Entrance Examination. The students who ranked less than 20,000 in the examination, were eligible for the scholarship. Many students availed it.

Various extracurricular activities are held in GMIT. The gender ratio was even. Workshops were not very good in the whole course. But the overall vibe was nice for all students. All the students were from various parts of the West Bengal state.

Hostels in GMIT were ragging-free. Though the quality of food was terrible. And it lacked any kind of amenities. The hostel staffs were not very polite and friendly. But the students were friendly towards each other.

The Alumni of GMIT college are very much connected and the college also keeps a close connection with them. Without a proper alumnus base, an institution can not prosper. In GMIT alumni meet and cultural programs happen often.

I got admission to GMIT through the Joint Entrance examination. The e-counseling was done according to the ranks of the examination. The counseling gave me the chance to take admission to GMIT. That is how I got the chance to college.

The faculty of GMIT college was of the very average grade. All the heads of the departments were very good. They were experienced and well-versed in teaching. But all the other teachers were not up to the mark. The students felt a need for some good faculties every now and then.
