Remarks
In positive remarks, I want to mention that our college premises promotes tobacco free environment. No non-veg food is allowed inside the premises not even inside the hostel. Overall culture and environment is quite friendly. In negative remarks, I want to say that the college timing is not that convenient. Usually the college starts at 7.30 in the morning and that is so early. Students having their home even as near as 30 kilometers are thus indirectly forced to stay in the hostel as it is quite difficult for a student living that away to come in time to the college that early using public transport or even by private vehicle.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curricular gets approved by AICTE and it pretty much covers all the basic subjects that a computer science student must know. But still, it lacks courses on some modern technology and includes some topics that are very less practiced in the current industry. There are usually five theory subjects and four labs per semester.
Placement Experience
Our college lies in the tier 3 category of colleges and provides a lot many job opportunities. Many MNC's and other local companies visit our college for campus placement. A lot many students get placed. The top package earned by students this year was 19.5 lakhs. The average package students earned this year was around 4 lacs. Few of the top recruiting companies are VMware, Amazon Web Services, Barclays, Informatica, etc. No, our college does not provide any internship programs.
College Events
The biggest event that is celebrated every year is called "Pratishruti", three-day event having many workshops, fun games, sports competitions, technical competitions, etc. The last day's night is called a cultural night in which all students gather in a decorated football ground for fun cultural activities, dance, and Dj.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is moderately expensive. The tuition fee is around 1.40 lakhs per year. And hostel costs around 80,000 INR per year if a student needs to stay there. And if a student is admitted through NRI quota, then the tuition fee is around 3.5 lakhs per year which is quite expensive.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not availing any scholarship facilitated by the college. Instead, I have availed PMSSS(Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme) facilitated by Central Government. But a scholarship program is there in our college for top-scoring 5 students for every branch in which they are awarded some cash amount.
Campus Life
There are a lot of many extracurricular activities and recreational activities like industrial visits, festival events, workshops by industrial experts, etc. There are around 4 labs per semester according to the course curriculum. And there are many sports like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, chess, Table Tennis, etc. Also, there are many sports events organized like every year there is a Branch Cup in which the different branches compete in different sports. Overall, I would rate all the activities 8 out of 10.
Hostel Facilities
I would rate hostel infrastructure as 7 out of 10 and facilities provided as 8 out of 10. Infrastructure is not that good as space is bit congested. Toilets and washrooms are a bit congested. Facilities provided like drinking water supply is also not great. There are only 3 water filters and coolers per floor, toilets. And also complaints regarding broken fans, lights, etc., are not resolved quickly.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is growing large, and they are always there in contact to help when we need them. The seniors are helpful too. They all help in guiding us in our studies. They share with us there experiences and advice to do fruitful and beneficial works and tasks.
Admission
I got admitted through PMSSS (Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme), a scholarship scheme given to students of the state of Jammu and Kashmir only. My admission was based on my 12th merit. I had to fill some names of colleges of my preference in PMSSS counseling round online form, then based on my merit, this college got allotted to me. I had to come to the college premises on an allocated date.
Faculty
The faculty of this college is overall good. There are many Ph.D. and M.Tech qualified teachers and they all give their right efforts to guide the students in the right direction. They teach well and some even entertain the students with their humor to keep the boredom away in the class. But the thing I feel wrong about some of the teachers is that some teachers focus their efforts only towards bright students in the class and neglect those who are somewhat average or lie even below that line, who actually need their guidance to put them in the right direction. In a nutshell, there is some kind of biased behavior of teachers towards some students.
