Remarks

The college has a very strong alumni base which helps in the long term. Being first IIT it is also called torch bear of IIT system. Placements are good and there is great opportunity for the higher education. Proud to be a Kgpian.

Entrance Preview

I appeared in GATE, scored AIR 48, I opted for IIT Kgp because of well qualified faculty and strong alumni base.

Course Curriculum Overview

Faculty is good. Course curriculum is of international standard. Curriculum involves electives in first year.

Internships Opportunities

I got Rs. 8000 per month stipend (now Rs. 12400) from MHRD.

Placement Experience

Placement are good. More than 200 companies visit the campus annually.

College Events

College celebrates two big events Spring Fest, and Kshitij the techno management Fest. The two events are probably the biggest of their kind.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee is feasible and can be afforded by anyone from lower middle class and above.

Fees and Financial Aid

A lot of central, state government, and industry scholarships are available. Banks easily give loan due to the reputation of the college.

Campus Life

Campus is very big (2100 acres). Sometime it is tiring sometimes it feels awesome to explore new thing in our own campus. College has minimal politics and is very inclusive.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facilities are good but should be improved. Food is good but vegetarians may face problem because fish is served daily in the same mess.

External Expense: Rs.4000 - Rs.7000

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very vast and seniors are really helpful. I can say that IIT Kgp has strongest alumni network.

Exam Structure

In every semester we had mid semester and end semester exam. Apart from this lab test and class tests are also conducted regularly.

M.Tech in IIT KGP - What you need to know.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario in IIT KGP is great if you're a B.Tech student. For M.Tech the placements are good but only in other departments like ME, CSE and CHE. Mostly students pursue research after M.Tech.

A student's perspective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course structure is quite good. Only need the guidance which course is good of us. Syllabus is quite lengthy. I think theoretical knowledge is good but need of some practical knowledge is required. Laboratory work should be divided so that each students experience the best.

Placement Experience:

At the end of 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placements. 1000 of company visit campus every year in January and December month. Placement takes place in two form one in December and other in January. Like IBM, puma, ICC bank, Deloitte, ABG, Lenovo, etc. highest package is about 2.68 crore per annum, average 15lpa According to different profiles. Students should have more than 8.5 cgpa for good placements. I will join a good company after completing the degree.

Other colleges I applied for is IIT Delhi because it is nearer to my home and is well reputed college and have a great field in Tech.I opt this college because I am interested in Tech field. I finally chose IIT KGP beacuse it is providing me better branch than IIT Delhi and I got interested in this college beacuse my teacher in myh senior schoo is also from IIT KGP they taught me a lot of stories of there college time and I talked to some seniors of college for admissionb regarding prespective so they advised for IIT KGP.Therefore I chose IIT KGP over IIT Delhi.
