Remarks

Medical college kolkata is the oldest medical college in asia. Established in 1835. It is the most famous college in Kolkata for persuasion of MBBS. You can feel the vibes of ancient glory and recent medical advances in the campus. It is the first government medical college to have a heart transplant in Eastern India.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

MBBS is still the most desirable course in the country. It carries both glory as well as financial stability. Three are 4 professional examination held by the university at the end of 1, 2½, 3½ and 4½ years. Thereafter you have to go through a compulsory rotating internship of 1 yr to acquire the clinical skills in different departments.

Placement Experience

5

Placement and job opportunities are great. Yes college provide internship. Internship is the most memorable part of the academic curriculum. You directly deal with patients, acquire clinical skills and manage medical emergencies. It is very great indeed. Stipend is given in the internship. When I completed mine, it was 21000 INR

College Events

4.5

Medical college has different events celebrated throughout the year. Like Saraswati puja, foundation day celebration (28 Jan) and reunion, Arthralgia: the annual sports event, film festivals, regular seminar and workshops. The freshers welcome and the annual cultural festival "RHAPSODY" is celebrated with grandiose.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college fee structure is within reach of the common. The semester fee is 4500 INR. And the examination fees are about 1000 to 2000 INR depending upon the examination. And there is no such hidden fees

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't know about it. I did not avail any scholarships during my graduation days. But as the college is government fee is not very much. However there are few merit cum means scholarship examination which is held in different times

Campus Life

4

Labs are good and medical college labs are one of the most standard government medical labs. However the sports part is neglected as there is no official college ground. However other extracurricular activities like debates, quiz and cultural programs as well as meeting and seminars on political and environmental issues are organised regularly

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes I stayed at main boys hostel, located 2 minutes walk from college campus. Hostel rent is 12 INR per month. Mess is available and they provide good meals at 35 INR/per meal. Snacks are also available in the morning and in evening at an affordable price. Plus there is a games room in hostel where you can play carrom, table tennis etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, very much helpful. Seniors have helped me from the day of admission. I stayed at main boys hostel and it was like a home away home. Seniors were like my family. They helped me whenever I needed it. Be it in studies, in illness or in personal problems

Admission

I got admitted through WBJEE. After I got my rank. I went through counselling process. Then I have to attend the college students' section and verify the necessary documents. Seniors are there during admission process and they helped me with every small details

Faculty

4

Faculty of college is very good. There are many renowned experienced professors in all the department. They guide the young minds with care and compassion. They are also very helpful during the exam sessions

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.
