Remarks

Talking about positive remarks this University has great ambience for study as well as playing grounds. Talking about negative remarks exams are sometimes head very irregularly. All the students can change the dates of the exams facilities the authority help them which I think has a negative impact on the student.

Course Curriculum Overview

The syllabus of the honours course is designed very intelligently covering most important parts and also covering the syllabus for competitive exams which helps the students a lot. There are two semesters in each year held by the University.

Placement Experience

Great job and placements in the engineering departments. JU does provide internship but only to the poor students. It doesn't have any scholarship method which I think a drawback about this university.

College Events

1. Seminars: Several seminars are held for the students, where students can also participate and learn. 2. Sports: Annual sports day is celebrated every year. Students can take part in cricket, football, basketball, volleyball and many more games 3. Reunion: Celebrated in every department 4. Academic tours 5. Freshers

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are very manageable. It takes only 64 inr to participate in every semester and also a very low cost to get admitted in this university which I think is a very good facility of this institution. It is One of the low cost universities in this country.

Fees and Financial Aid

As I already mentioned that University doesn't have any scholarship facility. I don't know about such scholarship. But I do know that University give scholarships for students who are financially weak.

Campus Life

The labs are very good. It has all the updated instruments and space for all the students. Every year our university celebrates annual sports day. student can take part in cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton and many more sports.

Alumni/Alumna

I don't have much knowledge about the alumni. But talking about the seniors, they are very very helpful. When I got admitted in this university seniors came forward to welcome us. Any problem it may be academical or personal we can discuss it with our seniors and then never hesitate to help us.

Admission

I filled up the online application in the official website of JU with the details of my HS marks. Then they made a merit list according to the HS result and arranged a counselling process, of which I was informed through email. I attended the counselling and got admitted.

Faculty

Student friendly and very experienced professors are one of the best facilities in this university. They took their classes regularly and handle students with personal care. One can discuss their doubts with the professors any time.

Placement Experience:

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

Placement Experience:

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

My experience at St. Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

Our college has a very active placement cell that fetches jobs for everyone who needs and deserve it. The highest package was 24 lacs per annum last year and it is only expected to go up this round almost all students to set for placements are placed but in my department specifically most opt for higher studies like myself.

We have a placement cell helping students get placed. They keep posting opportunities like internships and fellowships throughout the year to groom students and give them exposure and experience. Placements can go to very high packages like those in Data Science, Big 4 consulting or core finance or banking jobs. CAs, CFAs and FRMs do well in the placements. The highest packages could surpass 12-13 LPA and median packages are close to 6-7 LPA. DE Shaw, Zomato, Myntra, Meesho, TCS and McKinsey are some top companies coming here.

In our batch, we are 21 students who come regularly, the faculties are 6, whereas 2 lab attendants. All faculties are MSc and 4 of them have PhDs. Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More

Homebound Forward with Jadavpur University

I have always wanted to study in Jadavpur University in one of their literature departments since I was a kid. This was a way of achieving a tiny dream of mine. Moreover, the Comparative Literature Department is the best in all entire Asia and the first one in the country. I wanted to experience the greatness of this course and how the canons of this literature were formed here. It is also the topmost State Public University and 9th in NIRF I wanted to be a part of an institution that could be great to this extent. The admission took place on the basis of a merit-based entrance examination. The seats are limited; therefore, only the top 15 students out of almost 800-1000 who appeared for the exam were selected. The Pros and Cons of Joining Jadavpur University Masters of Arts in Economics

1) I applied for Delhi School of Economics, however couldn't manage an admission due to the extreme cutoff on CUET exam for the same. I had confirmed admission from North Bengal University, however it was not feasible since I had a choice in Jadavpur University. Jadavpur University has the best rank among all other colleges I had a confirmed admission to, so I chose this University. 2) I wanted to study in Delhi School of Economics, but couldn't make it there due to the extensive cutoff in CUET which I unfortunately couldn't clear. 3) Jadavpur University conducts its own internal exam for admission into its esteemed Masters of Arts [M.A.] programme. However one can get through by CUET exams as well, however that needs a decent score. The cutoff in the internal exam is around 70% for General Category and for CUET, the cutoff varies yearly....Read More
