Remarks

First talking about the positive remarks it is a deemed to be university and is funded by central government. It is one of its kind institute in pan India. It is directly governed by HRD ministry. Talking about negative remarks only things that matter is it's location which is in a very interior region of Punjab state.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is according to AICTE guidelines and are very good for the enhancement of one's technical knowledge. We have 1 mid term test of 30 marks 2 quiz of 10 marks each out of which best one is selected and one final exam of 50 marks each semester.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement and job opportunity in this college is good. Many different MNC's visit our campus for their recruitment process some of them to be listed are Mahindra& Mahindra, Infosys, TCS, ISSGEC Yamunagar, Indian Army etc. No my college doesn't provide any internships.

College Events

5

We celebrate all national events such as independence day and Republic day, Gandhi Jayanthi, etc. Instead of these events we also celebrate our college fests(technical and cultural) once in each semester. We also have our sports meet each academic year in the month of February/March. We also celebrate NCC day in our college every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very feasible. For graduation course that is for B.E/B-TECH it is Rs.26000 per semester including hostel rent of Rs.2500. Additionally a mess charge of approximately Rs.81/day is charged from students living in hostel.

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm not availing any type of scholarship or loan facility but college does provides different scholarships to students. All national and state governments scholarship are provided to the eligible students. Also scholarship based on academics are also provided by the institute to their students.

Campus Life

4

We have full fledged labs in each department of this institution. One of the biggest workshops in north India are also available in the mechanical engineering department. We have our sports department. Many other societies/organisation like NCC, NSS, ISTE etc. are present.

Hostel Facilities

4

It has very good hostel infrastructure in the college campus itself. It has 10 boys hostel and 3 girls hostel. Each hostel has a capacity of 250 students to accommodate at a time. Each hostel has its own mess system.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network of this institution is very good. They are almost in every industries and country. They are all connected to the institute through its alumni cell which is run by currentstudents of this institute. They are at different higher position in many organisations. They are always ready to help their juniors in any situation.

Admission

Once I have passed my 10 exam I appeared for entrance exam of this college SET-1 to get admitted in diploma course (ICD). I have cleared my exam got selected for diploma in mechanical engineering based on my AIR rank and my choice filled. After diploma I got promoted to B.E. course after clearing its entrance exam SET-3.

Faculty

4

We have very good faculty in our college. They are highly educated and have very good technical knowledge and skills. All the professors are very skillful and helpful. They always teaches us industrial based skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
