Remarks

Positive: infrastructure, management, teachers, teaching guides, discipline, sports Negative: academics, co-curricular activity Overall, the college offers decent atmosphere for academics, sports and college life. The 3000 students population helps to create a wide friends circle.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The college comes under Mahatma Gandhi (MG) university of kerala. The university offers a standard curriculum for each semester. Talking about the curriculum in Chemistry, the university covers all major if its topics through six semesters. However the exam systems are not into the mark. Many at times, exams are postponed and valuation of examination are done with much less attention. Last year the university itself lost answer papers on market road and lucky was returned back by some local man. However result appear almost in time. There university offers provision for revaluation of answers sheets and improvement for first four semesters.

Placement Experience

2

As the colleges offers only non-professional course, there are no direct placements from the college. However private coaching are given for bank coaching by our own teachers. The coaching is found worthy, as many of our senior got placement last year. More over department of science, provides chances for internship in industries and laboratories during vacation. But very less students tend to show interest in them.

College Events

3.5

The annual events include, Union inauguration, arts day, foundation day, college Union election, music, dance and film club events and college day. Moreover, most of the department conduct individual fest. Com Arena and Varthika are the best of the fest conducted. Further department programs are organised during onam and Christmas seasons.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible and very much feasible for the reservation granted students. The reservation enabled students have to pay only around 25 rs per exam. They can have reduction in hostel fees. The general category pays around rs.2000 per semester. Revaluation and improvement charges for examination are separate.

Fees and Financial Aid

The students can avail scholarship provided by both central and Kerala government. There is a separate section in office to deal with scholarships. The eligible students get their monthly allowance directly to the linked bank account

Campus Life

4.5

St. Thomas college is known in the field of sports. The college is blessed with strong volleyball, football, badminton, swimming and softball team. The sports department also offers chess. College provides swimming coaching every Summer vacation. Science labs are also up to the mark of the nearby colleges.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

C.R. Hostel. The infrastructure, though is old, is immense and sturdy. It has 100 rooms with two inhabitant in each room. The monthly fee is rs.3500. The hostel has one warden and an assistant warden. The food is of above average quality, with a biriyani once in month, porotta twice per week. The lunch and dinner has non-veg for the needed. Innmates has to enter the room by 6.30 pm everyday.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumini connection are not that good in the college. Seniors return to the college at times to meet the teachers. But there is not official alumini association. Much of the teachers teaching here are themselves alumini of the college.

Admission

The admission is done with single window system of Kerala Higher Education counsil. The required priorities for the colleges are to be given in advance to two-three months of admission. Students are allotted admission to each college in the order of merit. I had given St.Thomas college as my second option and got admission in the same through second allotment list. The college has a informal interview with student and parent, before the class commence. The college is blessed with valuable heritage and immense infrastructure. It offers admission in 17 various courses.

Faculty

2.5

Each department had been blessed with best scholars of the state in earlier decades. Most of the college text books were written by the teachers of our college. But presently, I think, only few teachers are worth for the standard. Being a Men's College the management offers students enough freedom in college. However both students and teachers shows relectance for outstanding academics and Co curricular activities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
