Remarks

I would say it was a mix of good and bad experience. It was good for the students those are from english medium backgrounds. Not much for a bengali medium students. So one has to choose carefully. I think i made a mistake.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

It has semester system. 6 month per semester. So overall 3 years course. The curriculum was very easily understood. There are also extra-curricular activities you need to complete with regular course.

Placement Experience

3

There are placement opportunities. Google came to our college a few years back and took an exam. I have not taken the exam so i can't say if there is a stipend or not but opportunity is there for sure.

College Events

4.5

There are many events. Some were departmental and some were intra-departmental. The best one of the lot was xavotsav which is been celebrated every year and runs 5-6 days. It's a fun event and very popular in whole kolkata.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Very expensive compared to a Government college. If in a Government college the fees are 100 then in this college it will be 1000 just to give you an idea of how expensive it is. So if you have scholership then it will be feasible for you.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did avail a scholership else i would not be able to pay the required fees as it's an expensive college. The name of the scholership was "Inspire". I was paid 5000/month for 3 years. If you continue post graduate course you get more.

Campus Life

5

NSS was the extracurricular activity I was a part of that I enjoyed very much. We used to go on a journey with senoir faculties to teach poor childrens in villages and provide them with daily essentials for study.

Hostel Facilities

3

No, I have not opted for hostel but i did visit a few of my friends hostel which were decent. Water, electricity, fooding evwrything was provided. But the food quality was not up to the mark as per my friends reviews.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network was very good. Senior students were helpful too. I remember a guy from 2nd year who helped me in my first year to get to know the ropes of this college as I was well unaware of the college procedures.

Admission

We filled the admission form available online after 12th. Paid the required fees. A merit list came out after a few days and were selected on the basis of marks obtained in 12th.We were called for document verification and later admitted to the college. Hostel facility was there if needed.

Faculty

5

Very experienced and well versed with the curriculum. They never ever miss a class. Even if they somehow misses the class it will be attended to at some later date. So you will be self disciplined if you ever get admitted to the college.

Placement Experience:

placements can happen in any semester starting from 2nd semester, it completely depends on the companies which come to the campus for cadets. 95% of the cadets get placed at the end of their course. teh packages vary from 300000 to 1200000 per year. note that this is the stipend you get while training, once this training is finished and you have al the certifications and are medically fit for sailing you get ti earn 10 times more only after 2 years.

SIES College of Arts Science and Commerce - [SIES ASCS], Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biotechnology)
Reviewed on Feb 19, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

While searching on internet I got to know about this course that's where I earned interest for this course that made choose this course. The practical knowledge shared by the faculty at their best helps for real life applications but still practical knowledge is gained beyond college course pattern which can be gain in internships. By providing more practical knowledge beyond the theory part of the course may help students greatly by learning real life experiences. Exams are usually held by morning at the college timing (9:30 am).

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. There are campus placements but my seniors are yet to get placed. Since we are secknd batch of data science we don't know much about how is the placement for data science students. There are good placements for bms students. I will be doing master after this degree and won't opt for placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of the teachers who teach that. I had my siblings telling me that they love the way their teachers taught them. They make it so easy to understand and give you so much advice to grow and have great success. Also, this college is just a treasure of other curriculum activities. Once you got to know that they held those kinda functions over these years you can't resist and will participate in those functions. As it the course was difficult but teachers will make it easy they will guide you in any problem that you have and encourage you to learn more skills so you can be more successful.
