Saptarshi Pramanik's Review On Coochbehar Government Engineering College, Cooch Behar

It's a beautiful college on the north Bengal , coochbehar. As the college is only four years old ,it lacks in some facilities but it is improving day by day. Coochbehar Government Engineering College will be one of the best engineering collegees in next five to ten years.

Exam structure and course curriculum are being improving by AICTE. Various subjects like Economics, Constitution of India , Biology, Environment Science has been included in the syllabus. They are asking to do project based study.

This college strated on 2016. On 2020 there will be first batch to get Placements all though Placement is happening from 2019. Some students got selected in TCS. Some companies like Kreeti Technologies are visiting the campus to recruit.

CGEC doesn't lags in cultural celebration. Saraswati Puja, Biswakarm puja, Holi etc are celebrated in Our college. Our fresher's event is CROESO. But there is departmental fresher's. Our annual fest is ESPARANZA. It's our cultural cum tech fest.

The fees are very less if it is compared to the private colleges. As It's a government engineering college so fresh are very low around 10k per year. For CSE and ECE , yearly fees are around 12k but for ME , CE and EE , fees are about 8k yearly.

Personally the college doesn't offer any scholarship or loan facility but anyone can apply in the government offered scholarships like svmcm or map. And it can be verified through college. Students can apply in private scholarship also.

Students of the college are very sports enthusiastic. Football is mostly played all though other games like cricket, volleyball matches happen quite often. There are football maches happening quite often. Labs are not well equipped. As the college is only 4 years old so there is shortage in lab equipments.

Currently there are two boys hostels available for students. But those two hostels are occupied by 2nd and 3rd year students. Another Boy's hostel is being built. All though there is a big girls hostel which can accommodate most of the girls.

The first alumni will be 2020 batch. We hope that alumni network will be strong. If senior students are considered they are very much helpful. Coochbehar Government Engineering College is a no ragging campus. And the students are also very helpful.

There is a exam named WBJEE. It happens after class 12 HS exam. You need to get at least 12k rank in the exam. It happens in the month of may or June. In the exam one need to secure at least 50 marks to get a good rank.

There is a shortage of faculty in the college. Some of faculty members are not well experienced. But some teachers are very good. College is providing guest faculties. Some of them are also quite good. But mainly the college lags in number of faculty members.
