Remarks

Overall, I feel blessed to have opted for my college and although I'm in my second year now, I'm already starting to think how I'll be able to leave this place. GEC Thrissur has grown so much into me that it had moulded my personality and Outlook. Can't really think of anything negative to say.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum follows strict measures to ensure attendance of at least 75% without which you will be unable to write your exams. There are two internal exams (series tests) during a sem as well as an end semester examination. Marks are awarded for projects as well.

Placement Experience

5

The department of chemical engineering in my college is arguably the best chemical engineering department in Kerala and has more placement opportunities than even NIT Calicut. A lot of core companies visit the college and most of the students get placed. The college doesn't provide internships, but helps you to find internships in companies outside.

College Events

5

There are various events celebrated here, cultural, technical as well sporting events. We have a huge cultural fest, Dyuthi, in which a whole array of events are on show. Last year the proshow was conducted by the world famous dj nucleya. Other events include tech fests for each department, tournaments for almost all common sports, Halloween parties, ethnic day celebrations etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a government college, the fee structure is very feasible and students are categorized based on their caste and annual income of the family. So I would say the fee structure is very student friendly and affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

As it is a government college, there are a whole host of scholarships available for students. Based on annual income of the students family, there are a variety of tuition and hostel fee waivers. Scholarships are also awarded on the basis of merit.

Campus Life

3.5

The college is studded with labs and workshops of international quality. Each department has workshops of it's own kind in addition to the general labs for chemistry, physics, computer science, language skills etc. The highlight of the college is it's attention to co curricular and sports activities. There are a variety of activities conducted here, engaging all types of students throughout the year. The college provides excellent avenues for sports and cultural programs.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network here is a very strong group comprising of people in very high sections of the society. Due to the history and heritage of our college, we have a very supportive alumni network. But the best part about GEC Thrissur is the senior students here. From the time you enter college, they are the most friendly people you'd find around. As it is a 100% anti ragging college, seniors and juniors sitting together and enjoying the vibes of the college is a common sight for everyone here.

Admission

The admission process mainly includes an entrance exam. Your 12th standard marks are also taken into consideration while making the rank list. During the allotment process you can give the courses and collegse you would like to opt and based on your rank.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty in my college are very supportive and approachable. They give enough freedom to the children as well as excelling in teaching ability. Overall it is a good experience being tutored by the faculty over here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
