College review

The college has every positive aspect except only a few drawbacks like it is not in the heart of the city, it does not have a playground, it has only one canteen which is over priced. You have to take an auto rickshaw to go to the college. There are no bus provided for the students. There are not any stationary shops or book stores around.

The college is under MAKAUT University. MAKAUT stands for "Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology". On the completion of this course students get a degree of Engineering of their respective department. This is a 4 year course consisting total of 8 semesters.

The placements and job opportunities depends year to year! Last year there has been a very vast placements and it is still going on! About 40% students from each departments get placed. Still now no internships has been done! However workshops and industrial visits are provided to the students.

TechXtra- It is the largest inter college tech fest of eastern India. Students from various colleges come to participate here. The prizes given are mouth watering. Megatronix, the official tech club of the college conducts this fest.

The fee structure is set by the university. MAKAUT has set the ground rule for every college under the university to be within 4 lakhs. The college has a fee structure of around 3 lakh 95 thousand. However it is only valued if a student take admission on the basis of the rank they have achieved at WBJEE.

There is no scholarship facility given by the college. However the university has a criteria of TFW(Tuition Fee Weaver) where student who belong to a poor family can study for a much lower price. The college otherwise does not provide any financial support. They are very greedy when it comes to money.

The labs are well furnished with all the required instruments. However in many case the instruments does not work well. The college has 5 computer labs which are so big that the college has to authority to held any online examinations. The college lack of any play ground.

The seniors here are very helpful and cooperative. The tech club, that is Megatronix consits of senior students who always comes up to help the Juniors. But the alumni network is very poor. Even I doubt they don't have any.

At first I gave an entrance exam for engineering, that is WBJEE and filled my choices of college for councilling and out of the given choices I got selected for Meghnad Saha Institute Of Technology. But there are also other ways to get admission here. One has to get a required rank for getting admission in this college.

The faculty members are very cooperative. Till now there is no complains of miss behavior upon the faculty members. All the faculties of the college has a minimum degree of M.Tech or Master degree. Most of them has P.Hds in their respective fields. There are separate faculty rooms for each department. The faculty members have a good relations among themselves as well.
