All about IIT Kharagpur

Positive: It has lots of societies and good bonding between students. All of us involve in any of the events held in general championship. Our college has the largest library in the entire Asia. Negative: Students sometimes get addicted to bad habits. Our college is taking great steps to stop this. It has banned cigarette completely inside the college.

The current course curriculum is acceptable. The total syllabus is divided and taught to us for 2-3 hrs per week for a subject and a tutorial is conducted for 1hr per week.The exam structure is as follows: Total 100 marks, Mid semester examination-30 marks, End semester examination-50 marks, TA marks-20 marks (class tests, assignments).100=30+50+20.

The percentage of people who are getting placed is increasing year after year. As compared with last year statistics there are so many new companies that are coming fot recruiting this year. And all the companies are also providing decent packages.

There are many events in IIT Kharagpur. The main event according to me is the ILLUMINATION(illu) which is held during the Diwali festival. This event is very unique that is held only in our college. For this event all the hostels will prepare their own chatayi which reflects different types of traditions built with diyas. And there are different technology fests like KSHITIZ, GREAT STEP, MECHANICA and cultural fest named SPRING FEST which is held in January.

It is little bit expensive. Our fee structure per semester is 1,00,000 rupees for tution fee and around 36,000 rupees for all other expenses like hostel,food,exam fee, internet, water, electricity, films etc.

There are three banks namely SBI, PNB and syndicate bank which offer loans for all the students who are willing to take the loan at low interest rates. The process is one day process. And there is a scholarship called MCM(Merit cum Means) which reimburses whole tution fee(1,00,000 per semester) for the students whose parents income is less than 6,00,000 per annum.

Our college conducts general championship between the different hostels for sports, technology, social and cultural. There are many sub events in these categories. We enjoy a lot watching the sports events supporting our hostel mates.

Our hostel is thirty year old building. But the quality is adequate. The room size is very much sufficient for a single person and there are different types of sports field is available inside the hostel.

Yes they are very helpful. There is a large group of alumni network for IIT KHARAGPUR. For all the fests they give a lot of support through funds. And during the pre placements talk they encourage us and tells about ups and downs in the company and our future.

First I have cleared IIT-JEE MAINS examination then I appeared for IIT-JEE advanced examination and cleared it with a good rank and then joined IIT KHARAGPUR through the JOSAA councelling portal by giving the choices.

All the faculty members are very talented and experienced people. When it comes to the way of teaching, there are different types of professors. Few are very strict and serious all the time and few are very friendly and very interactive with the students. But all of them are always available for the students all the time.
