If you are interested in the Mechanical branch, you should definitely go for DTU Mechanical. DTU has one of the best Mechanical departments in the country. There are many tech teams and societies for the branch. Tech teams such as Defianz Racing, AUV DTU, UAS DTU, etc. even participated in competitions of international levels and won.
The placement records are also good for the branch. Many PSUs frequently visit the campus placement to recruit students. The highlights of DTU Mechanical Engineering placements show the average package to be INR 7 LPA. ONGC, Mahindra, etc. are among the top recruiting companies.
If you are not sure what interests you more then choose Mechanical Engineering because DTU is known for its Mechanical branch. But I would suggest you find what interests you more and go for that branch.
Electrical Engineering curriculum is considered the toughest and a low scoring branch at DTU. Talking in terms of internships and placements there is rarely any core company that comes for campus placements but you get a lot of non-core companies to get placed which is not an option for mechanical students because many software companies do not allow mechanical students to sit for placements. Also, a lot of people opt for PSU and higher studies. So it’s totally up to you, what you do with the opportunities provided. Take up Electrical Engineering only when you can work really hard.
The mechanical branch is one of the oldest branches at DTU and has a very high reputation and is even comparably with IITs. The branch is famous because of the infrastructure and the facilities the college provides which helps a lot to gain practical knowledge. Placements and internship opportunities are the same as Electrical Engineering but the option of getting placed in core companies like Maruti, Hero, Honda, and many more is available for the mechanical branch.
To conclude, if you seek good placement opportunities and are willing to work really hard then choose Electrical otherwise Mechanical is the best option.
