In my view, pursuing B.Tech + M.Tech in Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi vs. B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur boils down to ROI and financial feasibility. IIT Delhi has high placement rates with offers reaching up to 4 Cr, but the cost of living and fees can be steep without scholarships, especially since only a few students qualify. Meanwhile, IIT Kharagpur offers a solid course with a good average package of around 16 LPA, and the course load allows for side projects.

If you're looking for a quicker return on investment and a balance between education and opportunities, IIT Kharagpur seems like the smarter financial choice. However, if you’re aiming for top-tier placements and can manage the costs, IIT Delhi could be worth it for you.

IIT Delhi’s B.Tech + M.Tech in Chemical Engineering has impressive placement stats with nearly 100% placement rates and top companies like Jane Street offering packages of up to 4 Cr per year, which is outstanding. However, the curriculum and teaching methods may not be as engaging, which could impact learning. On the other hand, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Electrical Engineering also has a solid placement record, with an average package of around 16 LPA, and a lighter course load that allows for extracurricular activities and internships. If you're passionate about Chemical Engineering and want to maximize your earning potential, IIT Delhi might be the better choice. However, if you prefer a balanced experience with a good placement rate and opportunities for research, IIT Kharagpur would be a great fit.

Choose based on your interests, not what others say.

  • If you enjoy Maths, Physics, and Chemistry ? go for Chemical Engineering.
  • If you prefer only Maths and Physics ? choose Electrical Engineering.
  • If you want to work in communication later, consider EE, as it allows a transition to ECE.

The choice between B.Tech + M.Tech in Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur really hinges on your interests and location preferences.

  • Placement-wise: IIT KGP EE is the clear winner. There are numerous core job opportunities as well as options in CS. Plus, there's significant scope in consulting and finance. The growth potential is tremendous with this option.
  • Hard Work: Remember, there's no such thing as a free lunch. You need to put in the effort to seize these opportunities. If you're not willing to study hard after getting into IIT, those opportunities won’t mean much.
  • Passion for Chemical Engineering: If you're genuinely passionate about chemical engineering, then IIT Delhi's program makes more sense. The placements for chemical students are excellent, but again, hard work is crucial here too.
  • Future Plans: If you're considering entrepreneurship, UPSC CSE, CAT, etc., then IIT Delhi is the way to go.

I hope this helps clarify your decision! All the best! :)
