If you’re okay with pursuing Civil Engineering, then definitely consider NIT Warangal! A strong university name on your degree can enhance your profile significantly. It increases your chances of getting admitted to reputed universities in the USA.

However, if you’re uncertain about pursuing an MS abroad and want to secure good placements, then think about a local college. My suggestion is to opt for a decent NIT in a better branch. This approach serves two purposes: it gives you a central university tag and boosts your placement prospects!

Honestly, if you're focused on placements and internships, B.Tech Computer Science Engineering at NIT Warangal has the edge over B.Tech Civil Engineering at MNNIT Allahabad. NIT Warangal attracts top tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, offering lucrative packages and solid internship opportunities, especially after the 6th semester. MNNIT does have good placements for civil engineering but generally sees fewer tech companies and lower packages compared to the CS branch. So, if you're aiming for the best job prospects, NIT Warangal is the way to go, but if you have a passion for civil engineering and want to pursue it, MNNIT could still be a fulfilling choice.

In the US, no one cares if you're from IIT or a local college. What really matters is:

  • Good CGPA
  • Strong GRE score
  • High TOEFL score
  • Solid recommendation letters

It's all about the branch you choose! Your branch will dictate your career path, not the college name. Choose wisely!

The answer to your question isn't straightforward and involves several variables that need to be considered.

  • What subject do you want to pursue for your MS? If it’s Computer Science, then it’s common sense to choose an undergraduate degree in a similar or related field. Do you really think you can pursue an MS in CS after completing a Civil Engineering degree from NIT Warangal?
  • Hardly anyone who matters in the USA recognizes NITs. So, the so-called NIT tag holds little weight there (and honestly, it’s not that significant in India either, but that’s a separate discussion). NIT Warangal may have some recognition as a top NIT, but that’s about it. There are no extra advantages here. The best you can aim for is to pursue an MS in a field related to Civil Engineering after completing your UG in Civil from NIT Warangal. The same applies if you choose to do your UG in Computer Science from a lesser-known college. You would still need to pursue an MS in a related subject.

First, clarify what you want to do, and everything else will fall into place.

Considering both MNNIT Allahabad and NIT Warangal, the financial aspects heavily favor NIT Warangal, especially for B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering. NIT Warangal has a higher placement rate with top tech companies, making the ROI much better despite a similar fee structure. MNNIT's civil engineering program offers solid labs and good exposure, but overall tech placements are less competitive. Both colleges have fees around Rs. 95,000 per semester, but the potential earnings in tech roles post-NIT Warangal make it a smarter financial choice. If you're leaning towards a stable career with a higher salary, go for B.Tech in Computer Science at NIT Warangal; if you have a passion for civil engineering and are okay with potentially lower placement rates, MNNIT is still a solid option.
