I'm currently in my first year of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering at DTU, and I can tell you it’s an excellent choice! The curriculum is considered one of the best in Asia, and the faculty is highly qualified. Exams are conducted regularly, and I find them manageable as long as you're sincere. Placement opportunities here are broad; companies like Netflix, BMW, and Samsung recruit students every year. The average package is around 16 LPA, which is quite solid for freshers. Plus, there are scholarships available, so financial concerns shouldn't hold you back. Overall, I’d say DTU is a great place to kickstart your engineering career.
Honestly, doing a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from DTU has been one of the best decisions of my life. The faculty here is amazing, with a ratio of about 1:20, meaning we get a lot of attention. Most of our professors hail from top institutions like IITs and Stanford, and their teaching methods are very effective. The placement records are impressive too. From the 7th semester, a lot of us start getting placed in big companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. The overall placement rate is around 87%, and the highest package this year was a whopping 1.8 crore per annum! So yes, if you're passionate about Mechanical Engineering, DTU is definitely worth it.
For the Mechanical Department:
For the CS Department:
In the 2018 batch:
Min package: around 3 LPA (in companies like INFOSYS)
Max package: around 16-17 LPA (in PSUs)
Most private companies visiting for mechanical profiles won’t offer hefty salaries; they generally provide around 7-8 LPA and prefer candidates with high percentages (cut-off >65%, >70%). So, keep your GPA above 8!
5-6 PSUs (which offer good salaries) will visit and select mostly based on academic marks. Many students prepare for GATE to secure positions in PSUs off-campus.
I’m in my final year of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering at DTU, and I can confidently say it’s worth every bit of effort. The faculty is top-notch, with professors from prestigious institutions. The placement scene is vibrant; we had over 400 companies visiting for recruitment this year. The average package is 16 LPA, and the highest domestic package was offered by Atlassian at 83 LPA! The campus life is also vibrant with events happening almost every month. Plus, if you're looking for internships, companies like Microsoft offer around 2 lakh per month! If you're serious about engineering and want good placements, DTU is the place to be.
