Having spent two years studying Mathematics and Computing at DTU, here are some key insights about this branch as of 2018.
The branch has potential. The course structure is decent. However, the content is lacking. The computer science faculty assigned to this branch shows minimal concern for the syllabus, except for a few excellent professors encountered in the fourth and fifth semesters. Despite achieving good scores so far, many students feel dissatisfied with what they learn at DTU.
I would advise anyone considering this branch to rethink their decision. If you have other options, consider taking a year off to aim for better institutions like IITs, IIIT-H, or IISc Bangalore. Don’t waste four years here unless you plan to pursue an MBA, MS, or PhD.
I don’t regret my choice, as there are MOOCs, projects, and postgraduate degrees that can help compensate for the shortcomings. That’s all. Wishing you all the best!
Honestly, I think B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing from DTU is a good option if you're serious about your career. The college has a solid placement record, especially for those scoring well in their CGPA. I've heard that students from tech branches have higher placement rates, which is encouraging. The tuition fee is around 10 lakh for the four years, which is pretty standard for engineering colleges. Scholarships are available too, which can help ease the financial burden. Plus, the campus is one of the best I've seen, with cooperative seniors and lots of engaging activities. If you’re ready to work hard, this course can definitely set you up for success!
Doing B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing from DTU has been a great experience for me. The curriculum was updated this year, focusing on real-life applications, which is essential for tech jobs. The faculty-student ratio is 20:1, so you get enough attention in classes. Plus, the internship opportunities are amazing! Many big companies come for campus placements and internships, offering stipends around 30k for students with decent CGPA. The placement scene is also impressive, with companies like Google and Microsoft recruiting from our college. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid choice for anyone looking to build a career in tech.
I chose Mathematics and Computing at DTU because I wanted to be in a field with good future prospects. The subjects we study are quite challenging, especially the math part, which makes it one of the tougher branches. But I believe that’s what makes us more prepared for the job market. I have a friend who secured an internship at Adobe with a stipend of 1 lakh, and he said the selection process was straightforward if you have a good CGPA and knowledge of DSA.
The campus life is vibrant, with active societies and events like the annual tech fest, Invictus. You’ll definitely find opportunities to engage and learn outside the classroom.
