How hard is DTU entrance exam for an average student??

I can’t really say the DTU entrance exam is super easy, especially for an average student like me. I mean, the competition is pretty tough. You have to be well-prepared in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. I was nervous, but I focused on understanding the concepts instead of just memorizing. The exam tests your analytical skills too, so you need to practice a lot of problems.

But if you’re interested in engineering and put in the effort, you can definitely ace it. I'm in the Economics course at DTU, and I find the environment motivating!

For me, the DTU entrance exam was no walk in the park! I mean, I thought I was prepared, but the level of questions really pushes you. I spent countless nights going through sample papers and revising concepts to get ready for the 2026 intake. It’s crucial to have a solid grasp of the basics. It really depends on various factors. For instance, whether you completed your 12th from Delhi or outside Delhi matters because 85% of seats are reserved for Delhi students. There are also reserved seats for SC, ST, EWS, and OBC category students. Additionally, it varies by the branch you’re aiming for.

For example, in the Computer Engineering branch, the cutoff for Delhi students reached AIR-8396, which is around 99.2 percentile. For students from outside Delhi, it went up to AIR-2445, approximately 99.8 percentile. So, whether it's hard to get into DTU really depends on you!

If you have a good rank, you’ll likely secure a seat in these 6 rounds. If not, you can still get a seat in the spot rounds, although you may need to compromise on your preferred branch. Typically, you might find openings in lower-demand branches like Biotechnology and PIE, etc. But if your goal is to get into DTU, joining is still a great option!
