DTU is a good choice if you're looking for a mix of a solid curriculum and a vibrant campus life. I'm pursuing Economics here, and I chose DTU because I was always interested in economics and history. The faculty is quite experienced, with most guest professors being JNU PhD scholars. The classes are engaging, but passing the Economics paper can be a bit tricky compared to BBA. The campus is also lively, especially during our annual fest, Engifest, which attracts many renowned artists. Overall, it feels like a good environment to grow academically.
Life at DTU is pretty interesting! The east campus has around 2000 students, and the classrooms are really good, equipped with AC and projectors. I was surprised by how many resources are available, like all the necessary books and daily newspapers. The fees for studying here can be a drawback, especially with the backlog fee being 5500 for one subject. But with events like Engifest happening every year, there’s never a dull moment. I’m in my third year now, and I feel like I’m preparing well for my future, especially since I plan to go for higher studies.
Things I love about Delhi Technological University -
1. The college gate: It's true! Every time I walk past our impressive main gate, a wave of pride hits me. The gate is magnificent and always gives a great feeling when returning to college after vacations.
2. No Pressure: This is the best part of the college experience. Neither the classes nor the syllabus are overwhelming. The syllabus, especially for Mechanical Engineering, including the first year with common subjects, is quite relaxed and doesn’t demand excessive time to cover. You can study for just a couple of days before exams and still achieve decent marks.
Does this mean it’s making us lazy and diminishing the hard-working streak we developed in high school? Absolutely not! Those aiming for "great" marks need to put in the effort. Scoring 65-70% is relatively easy, but reaching that illustrious 80% is a challenge.
This relaxed environment gives us plenty of time to pursue our interests. You could spend your days coding, join a cultural team to explore your true potential, or even build a car or any kind of machine!
I’m from Mechanical Engineering at DTU, and it truly feels like a privilege to be studying at Delhi Technological University. It’s not just a university; it’s a family, a feeling.
Let me take you on a journey across my college!
The most famous spot on campus is the Open Air Theatre (OAT).
This is also where you can find all the peace you need in life, sitting with your girlfriend on a bench, lost in deep conversations. It’s definitely a couple’s spot at night! :P
At DTU, boredom is not an option. There’s always a fest around the corner. Entertainment is never in short supply.
Engifest is one of the most awaited events in Delhi!
The concerts are just amazing!
(Engifest is the only time you get to see more girls in college! Otherwise, the ratio can be quite skewed.)
Life at DTU is vibrant and full of colors! The campus is so beautiful that we sometimes refer to it as heaven. You’ll meet people from all over India, each with unique backgrounds. There are numerous technical and cultural societies to get involved in, some of which are internationally recognized.
Additionally, whenever you feel a sense of wanderlust, you can explore the campus. There’s a place called Horror Lane; I’ve been there but only encountered monkeys! :p You can also visit the lake on campus whenever you need a peaceful spot to sit for a while.
If you stay in the hostel, long campus walks are a great option. Don’t miss out on trying the famous “Maggi BaBa” made Maggi—every DTUite knows him! For affordable food, check out the mechanical canteen (Mech C) and the night canteen. For a quick break, grab a frappe at Nescafe. You can complete your practical files at OAT/Wind.
