You have worked with various organizations throughout your career, can you describe your experience with KLH GBS and what excited you to walk along with the institution?

To me, leadership is not about a title or a job, in a true sense leadership is all about taking responsibility. As the Head of BBA, what is your main emphasis in terms of providing a great learning experience to the students?

KLHGBS is a center of learning where one can witness the diversity, inclusiveness, unique culture, and distinctive path approach in Management education. We work along with KL University’s holistic approach to education by testing the analytical and practical skills of the students with the help of case studies and interactive sessions conducted by our highly qualified and specialized faculties. We are offering BBA in different verticals namely BBA – General, BBA – Business Analytics, BBA – ACCA, and BBA – IT. BBA – General program consists of various specializations like Finance, HR, Marketing and logistics, and Supply chain Management. We are also providing global education opportunities to our students through Semester abroad programs, student exchange programs, education and innovation camps, Global immersion programs, etc. 

We are in a time where the industry dynamics are changing rapidly, how do you make sure to be current with all the latest changes and incorporate them into the curriculum for undergrad students?

KLH-GBS regularly updates its curriculum to incorporate emerging trends and advancements in technology, preparing students for the digital age. The academic philosophy of our KLHGBS is practicing the 70-30 model. Through this model, 70 percent of the academics will be dealt with application modules and 30 percent will be dealt with theoretical modules. This model helps in bridging the gap between academia and industry. Regularly review and update the curriculum with input from industry experts and alumni. Incorporate emerging trends, technologies, and skills into the program. Encourage faculty to participate in industry projects and partnerships. These practices are also helping us to implement our 70-30 model more successfully.

Unlike any other undergrad degree, the BBA program requires holistic development for the students. What kind of outside-the-classroom initiatives or activities are implemented to make the students better managers?

We are emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and life-learning skills. To understand the status quo of the students we conduct a SWEAR analysis. Ensuring the holistic development of the students, Experiential Learning, Participative Learning, Case-Study methodology (Harvard cases), simulations of Live Projects/Real-time projects, Article Review, Global Certifications, Summer Internship Program, and research paper writing are included in the curriculum. We make students participate in different ALM (Active Learning Methods) as classroom initiatives or activities.

How does KLH GBS focus on industry relationships and collaborations to leverage internships and placements for BBA students?

KLH GBS focuses on industry relationships and collaborations to leverage internships and placements for BBA students. As our campus is located at Kondapur of Hyderabad which is midst of Industrial as well the IT hub always has a location advantage to get industrial connections. We arrange guest lectures, symposiums, and workshops by inviting people from various industries. Our Placement team is headed by the Director, Dr. A. Ramakrishna, who has a vast industry connection, and collaborations are helping our BBA students to grab good internships as well as placement opportunities with handsome salary packages. Apart from we have strong alumni connections that also contribute towards good placements. 

What do you think are the challenges that are being faced by BBA colleges in general and how do you address them as a Head of department?

BBA students of the present-day generation are facing many challenges such as rapid technological advancements, the advent of AI, lack of concentration on classroom participation, social media diversions, competition in the job market, etc. As a Head of the Department, I will be taking up a proactive, collaborative, and strategic approach, involving faculty, staff, students, and industry partners. Regularly reviewing and adapting our academic strategies based on changing circumstances and feedback is essential for the long-term success of the program. To meet the competition in the job market, we are providing the CRT as a company-specific training along with the modules of arithmetical ability, reasoning, English proficiency, soft skills, resume building, etc.

What kind of support is provided to the students who are interested in entrepreneurship at KLH GBS?

KLHGBS has CIIE (Center for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship) to provide support to students interested in entrepreneurship. We are offering entrepreneurship and Design Thinking and Innovation (DTI) courses as part of our academic curriculum, apart from this we encourage the students by mentoring and coaching, encouraging students into idea-pitching competitions, conducting workshops and training sessions, providing guidelines relating to IPR and other legal procedures to start a business, etc. We have also a MoU with the CII – Yi Hyderabad chapter, which allows various successful entrepreneurs and business leaders to meet and interact with them.
