Dr. B. Balanagalakshmi, with qualifications including M. Com., MBA, M. Phil., PGDCA, PGDFM, Ph. D., and successful completion of the SET exam conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise. With a teaching experience of 20 years and 12 years of research experience, Dr. B. Balanagalakshmi specializes in the field of accounting and finance. The Ph.D. degree was obtained from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Dr. B. Balanagalakshmi has served as chairperson for numerous workshops, faculty development programs, and webinars. Notably, she was honored with the 'Best Teacher Award' for two consecutive years during Teachers Day celebrations. Additionally, she received the 'Best Emerging B-School' Award on behalf of KLH-GBS in her capacity as the Head of the Department, presented by Talent Acquisition conducted in T-Hub. Recently, Dr. B Balanagalakshmi's Ph.D. scholar successfully completed her research on "The Impact of Modern Weaving Technology on Profitability with Special Reference to Pochampally Ikkat Handloom Industry, Telangana."

What motivated you to pursue your career in academia and gradually become a Head of MBA for KLH GBS?
My passion for teaching, thrust for research, love of academia, recognition and prestige, intellectual freedom, contribution to society, and the fact that teachers are responsible for creating the next responsible citizens motivated me to pursue teaching as my career.
I am a person who is interested in accepting challenges, ready to accept increased responsibility, and looking for professional development and advancement in her career.
What do you think is the USP or the differentiating factors that make KLH GBS stand out from other B-schools?
In KLHGBS, we are following Many best practices on par with global institutions, like the 70:30 model (70% application and 30% theory), experiential learning, participative learning, case study methodology, the semester abroad program, student exchange programs with foreign universities, and continuous updates in curriculum on par with industry needs. In addition to the best practices, we are concentrating on diversity in both faculty and students, a well-designed CRT program, alumni engagement, research opportunities and a strong and eminent faculty base with rich experience in both academics and industry.
How do the team and faculty of GBS work towards being updated with the latest trends and developments in the field of management and incorporate them into the curriculum and programs offered by the college?
It is crucial to provide the students with relevant and up-to-date education. Of course, learning is a continuous process, so to bridge the gap in trends, we are continuously engaging in research and publication. attending FDP, conferences, coordination with industry experts, guest lectures to the students, being a part of curriculum boards in different institutions, feedback from alumni, students, parents, peer groups from other institutions, industry experts, etc. to identify the latest trends and update the student body in the form of changes in the curriculum, conducting workshops and guest lectures, etc.
How would you foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and academic excellence within the school of business?
With the support of the management, we are engaging in faculty development programs, interdisciplinary collaboration, transparent decision-making processes, adequate resources, continuous assessment, an open communication system, collaboration with industries, student engagement programs, initiating the formation of innovative clubs, etc. to bring academic excellence to KLH GBS.

What kind of career advisory and support services are provided to the students at the KLH Business school?
A proper CRT program that will do a lot for the students, especially company-specific training programs, should be offered to them. CRT may include resume-building workshops, career counselling services, and career development workshops that help in interview preparation, assist in identifying job market trends, provide guidance in bridging the gap between their academic and industry expectations, etc. In addition to this, we have a mentoring and counselling system to have personal interactions with the students and offer guidance wherever it is needed.
Can you throw some light on what kind of steps are taken for the curriculum development and program designing for MBA students?
A well-designed curriculum will provide a strong academic foundation, practical skills, and a global perspective. For this, the students’ expectations and industry needs are to be identified. Based on that, a curriculum committee is to be formed, and course contents and specialization courses are to be framed as per industry requirements, building the curriculum to accommodate the changes in the business environment and trends.
There is a difference between learning in the classroom and doing it in real life. So how do you promote experiential learning and practical application of the knowledge that is learned in the classroom?
To promote experiential learning, we provide internships in varied organizations and encourage the students to engage in project-based learning, simulation, role-playing, arranging field trips, and interaction with industry experts and alumni.
As you are an individual who is involved in research work for a long time in your career, how do you encourage and cultivate the research and scholarly activities among the students as well as faculty members?
As an individual and as a faculty member, I stimulate the interest of the students to engage in research by creating a research-friendly environment, educating them about funding opportunities, conducting seminars and workshops, helping them identify collaborative opportunities, etc.
