Prof. Sandhya Darshan Dash has been working as the Head of BBA Department at Srusti Academy of Management, Bhubaneswar, Orissa. He has a total of 8 years of work experience in the teaching and research in Finance domain. And at present, he is doing PhD in Business Administration.

Before joining Srusti Academy, he has worked with GM (Auto) College of Sambalpur and NIIS Group. Apart from this, he has done MFC from Utkal University of Bhubaneswar and has also published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed and Scopus-indexed journals. Additionally, he has authored numerous journal articles which were published in management magazines and edited books. He is also a very punctual professional and amicable and student friendly.

Being the Head of BBA Department at Srusti Academy, what is your philosophy of leadership?

In my opinion, academic leadership doesn't require any specific style. And because working with young minds requires a different approach than using standard teaching and leadership techniques. Hence, being the Department Head at Srusti Academy, I always look for ways to improve the education we provide to students and create an industry leading learning environment for them. 

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector? 

I always had a passion for teaching and educating young and ambitious youths of our society for their bright future. Also, being associated with the dynamic and challenging world of education gives me immense opportunities to regularly learn new things and upskill myself by keeping an eye on current trends and developments of my field. Hence, I would say that all these factors are the major driving forces of my so long association with the education sector.

As an HOD, what are your key roles and responsibilities towards the student?

As a Department Head, my prime responsibility is to monitor the academic progress of our students and establish, implement and standardize the department assessment and evaluation procedures within the framework of our institute's policies and procedures. Apart from this, ensuring the overall well-being of students and people collaborate with each other regularly for knowledge sharing and projects also comes under the scope of my work. 

How is your relationship with the students of your college?

I always treat my students with dignity and provide them equal learning opportunities and tools they need to become more self-reliant and stay engaged and motivated. In addition to this, we offer them every possible support so that they can succeed in every endeavor of their lives. Also, students and teachers of our college regularly interact with each other through an open, respectful and trustworthy communication channel. Therefore I would say that my relationship is amazing with all the students of our institution.

Which extracurricular activities are organized by your college to enhance the skills of students?

For the purpose of enhancing student’s skills and providing them a platform to showcase their unique talents, our institution conducts a wide range of events and activities such as seminars, workshops, university-level competitions followed by competitions on dancing, singing, Antakshari, face painting and office table decoration on a regular basis. Apart from this, blood donation drives and sessions on smart city projects and traffic awareness are organized by us from time to time. Lastly, students are engaged in government initiatives as Volunteers.

Which best practices has your department adopted to fulfill the diverse academic needs of students?

We have employed instructional strategies, techniques, and resources to address and fulfill diverse learning requirements of students and have also developed a student-centered learning environment on campus that allows us to explore how physical facilities and teachers influence expectations of young and ambitious minds. Other than this, we have built strong relationships with them by fostering a safe and positive atmosphere where they can evaluate themselves and feel responsible and self-motivated. Assignments are also assigned to students as and when needed to assess their academic strengths and weaknesses and make sure pedagogies can be enhanced on time.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

I would like to advise my students and ambitious youths of our society to give 100% effort while chasing their dreams, as hard work, perseverance and committed work attitude are very essential to succeed and shine. Also, maintain a balance between your personal and professional lives and take good care of yourself. Also, always pursue dreams as per your passion and interests as you are the hero in your community, family, nation, and society.
