Successful Inaugural ICCVIoT '23 Conference Explores Frontiers of Computer Vision and IoT![Karunya University]()

Coimbatore, December 8, 2023 – The Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences hosted the First International Conference on Computer Vision and the Internet of Things (ICCVIoT '23) on December 7th and 8th, 2023. Organized by the ECE division, the event brought together global researchers and professionals to showcase advancements in computer vision and IoT technologies.
The conference was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. G. Prince Arulraj, Vice-Chancellor of KITS, who delivered the presidential address. Inaugural addresses were presented by Dr. Ines Chihi from the University of Luxembourg and Dr. Deepak Mishra from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology.
Keynote speakers included Dr. Chihi, who explored AI-based sensors, Dr. Mishra, discussing deep learning in space science, Dr. Anastassia Angelopoulou from the University of Westminster on AI for Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Dr. Girijesh Prasad from Ulster University sharing insights on Brain-Computer Interface for Neuro-Rehabilitation.
The conference saw participation from prestigious international institutions such as the University of Texas, University of Luxembourg, University of Tunis, University of Technology Sarawak, Tanta University, and University of Camerino. National contributions from renowned institutions, including NITs, added diversity to the conference themes.
Delegates actively engaged in presenting technical findings, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of knowledge sharing and collaboration. All presented papers will be published by IET and indexed in IEEE Xplore and Scopus Databases. The best papers will be featured in esteemed SCI journals with impact factors, enhancing the academic impact of the contributions.

Dr. A. Immanuel Selvakmar, contributing to Electrical and Electronics Engineering, reflects on the recognition of his work in Artificial Intelligence for Smart Grids and renewable sources, stating, "My ranking is a testament to the quality of our research papers and their impact in cutting-edge technologies."
Dr. Dibyajyoti Haldar, an Assistant Professor in the Division of Biotechnology, extends gratitude for being listed among the world's top 2% scientists, crediting the state-of-the-art research facilities at Karunya for this significant achievement.
In unity, these faculty members from diverse engineering streams have consistently secured places in Stanford's prestigious list, showcasing Karunya's unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge. 27th Convocation of Karunya Deemed University accredited By NAAC A++

Coimbatore, July 9, 2023 — The 27th Convocation of Karunya Deemed University was held today at 2 PM at the prestigious Dr.DGS Dhinakaran Centre within the university campus. Dr. Paul Dhinakaran, the esteemed Chancellor of Karunya University, presided over the event and conferred degrees upon 2014 graduating students.
In his address, Dr. Paul Dhinakaran emphasized the remarkable work carried out by Karunya students in finding solutions to key human problems such as water scarcity, food security, sanitation, and energy challenges. He commended their dedication to research and urged them to continue striving for the betterment of society.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, the convocation featured Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, as the special guest speaker. Dr. Behari delivered an inspiring convocation address, emphasizing the importance of graduates actively contributing to society. Derek Gladio, who received the Chancellor's Award for B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture; Oriana Gabriella Manners, recognized for her excellence in B.Tech. (Biomedical Engineering); Steffi Joseph Perumpully, honored for her exceptional performance in M.Tech (Environment and Water Resource Engineering); and Samuel Philip Minas R., commended for his dedication in M.Sc. Applied Criminology.

Karunya University hosts Mindkraft 23

Karunya deemed University, accredited by NAAC A++ recently hosted its flagship event, Mindkraft 23, a two-day Techno-Management fest based on the theme 'Mindful Solutions Krafted for Global Wellbeing'. The event was organized by the students of Karunya deemed university and served as a perfect launchpad for the brilliant and innovative ideas of budding technologists all over the nation.
Mindkraft 23 provided a platform for students to explore, collaborate, and find innovative solutions to complex challenges aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations and the key research focus areas of Karunya - food, water, energy, and health. Students from various departments, including Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Nano Science, Digital Sciences, Commerce and International Trade and Management Studies, Agriculture, and Food Processing Technology, participated and demonstrated their models.
A total of 150 teams exhibited their project models in the technical expo, and 90 technical events were organized by different departments of Karunya deemed University as part of Mindkraft 23. The models showcased at the event were exceptional, and some of them included Waste collecting robot Hydraulic braking system, AI-Based Decision Support System for Traffic Control, a Hybrid rocket motor, and Smart Biopolymer Package using Betacyanin indicator and Pomegranate Peel-ZnO nanoparticles for Meat Preservation, among others.
The event was not only focused on technical aspects but also had a food court, car show, selfie booth, and various other fun activities. The event was a colourful and enjoyable two-day fest that motivated young minds to create and develop ideas for a better sustainable world.
The models showcased at Mindkraft 23 provided insights in alignment with the four pillars of food, water, energy, and health, and focused on areas of poverty, health, and zero hunger for a healthier world. The event truly reflected the University's goal to solve complex problems and create innovative solutions for global well-being.
Overall, Mindkraft 23 was a huge success, and it is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students of Karunya deemed university in organizing such an event. The event was a perfect platform for young minds to showcase their technical skills, collaborate, and find innovative solutions for complex challenges.
