  • Admission is purely merit-based on BITSAT score and Class 12 PCM marks; no SC/ST/OBC reservation applies (BITS Pilani is a private deemed-to-be university).
  • Six to seven iterations run from late June through early August 2026; students who pay advance fees after each allotment remain eligible for automatic upgrades to better preferences.
  • The non-refundable counselling registration fee is Rs 1,000; an additional advance fee (adjustable against first-year tuition) is payable on accepting a seat offer.
  • Students who rank first in their Class 12 board in PCM subjects (any state or central board) may qualify for the Direct Admission Scheme (DAS), which is separate from the BITSAT merit process.

What is BITSAT Counselling 2026?

BITSAT 2026 counselling is the First Degree (FD) Admission process run entirely by BITS Pilani for its programmes at Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses. Unlike JoSAA or MCC, this is a fully institute-managed process — no central counselling body is involved, and all seat allotments across all three campuses are handled through a single portal at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in.

The process begins after BITSAT Session 1 and Session 2 results are released. Students submit their Class 12 marks and rank their preferred (campus + programme) combinations in the FD Preference Form. BITS Pilani then runs multiple "iterations" of seat allotment: in each iteration, every student is assigned the best available option from their preference list based on their merit rank. A student who accepts a seat (by paying advance fees) remains eligible for automatic upgrades to better preferences in the next iteration — so earlier rounds are not necessarily final.

Registering for the BITS Pilani admission process is mandatory — your BITSAT rank alone does not guarantee a seat. You must complete registration, pay the registration fee, submit Class 12 marks, and fill the FD preference form to be considered for any iteration.

As of June 15, 2026, Session 2 results are out (June 5), the FD preference form edit window has closed (June 9–10), and Iteration 1 seat allotment is the next key event on June 20, 2026. Students who submitted their preference form and Class 12 marks before the deadline will receive provisional offer letters (seat allotment notifications) on June 20 through their portal login. These are "provisional" because they remain subject to Class 12 marks verification at campus reporting.

BITS Pilani also runs a parallel Direct Admission Scheme (DAS) for students who top their Class 12 board (any state or central board) in PCM subjects. DAS students are admitted before the BITSAT merit iterations begin and can choose from available programmes at the time of their DAS offer, subject to meeting the same Class 12 eligibility criteria.

BITSAT Counselling Eligibility Criteria 2026

To be considered in BITSAT 2026 seat allotment, students must satisfy both the BITSAT participation requirement and the Class 12 academic eligibility criteria set by BITS Pilani. A valid BITSAT score is not sufficient on its own — Class 12 performance is a separately verified qualifying condition checked at campus reporting.

  • Students must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised board (CBSE, ISC, any state board) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, plus English as a language subject.
  • A minimum aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics together is required.
  • A minimum of 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics individually is required — no single PCM subject can fall below 60% even if the aggregate reaches 75%.
  • Students who have re-appeared for all Class 12 subjects (repeated the entire examination as a fresh attempt) are not eligible for BITSAT 2026 admission. Improvement in individual subjects is assessed separately.
  • Students who have already enrolled in a degree-level programme at any university or institution are not eligible for BITSAT 2026 FD admission.
  • For B.Pharm. (Hons.) programmes (available at Pilani and Hyderabad campuses): Biology replaces Mathematics as the third science subject. The same 75% aggregate and 60% per-subject criteria apply across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Students who appeared in BITSAT 2026 Session 1, Session 2, or both are eligible. BITS Pilani considers the better of the two session scores for merit rank computation.
BITSAT Counselling Eligibility Criteria 2026

Note: BITS Pilani verifies Class 12 marks at the time of campus reporting (July 28–30, 2026). If your actual marks fall below the 75%/60% thresholds — even by a fraction — your seat allotment will be cancelled on the spot, regardless of your BITSAT score or the iteration in which you were allotted. Submit accurate Class 12 marks at every stage of the process.

Reservation of Quotas for BITSAT Counselling 2026

BITS Pilani is a private deemed-to-be university established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. As a private unaided institution, it is not legally required to implement the statutory reservation norms (SC/ST/OBC) that apply to centrally funded institutions. Admission to all FD programmes across all three campuses is conducted on an open, merit-based basis using a common merit list. The following special provisions and alternative admission pathways apply:

Category / Scheme Eligibility How It Works
General Merit (BITSAT) All students who appeared in BITSAT 2026 and meet the Class 12 eligibility criteria Seat allotted in iteration order based on BITSAT score + Class 12 PCM aggregate. Open to all irrespective of caste, religion, or state of domicile.
Direct Admission Scheme (DAS) Students who secured first rank in their Class 12 board exam (any state or central board) in PCM subjects; must also meet the 75%/60% eligibility criteria DAS students are offered seats before the BITSAT merit iterations begin. They choose their preferred campus and programme from what is available at the time of the DAS offer. DAS application is made separately on the admissions portal; first-rank documentation from the board is required.
Persons with Disability (PwD) Students with physical disabilities holding a valid disability certificate from a competent medical authority BITS Pilani provides provisions for PwD students. A PwD certificate must be uploaded during admission registration and submitted in original at campus reporting. Specific seats or relaxations, if applicable, are detailed in the official BITS Pilani 2026 admission notification.
International Students Non-Indian passport holders Admitted through a separate International Students Admissions programme, distinct from the BITSAT merit-based counselling. Not part of the domestic BITSAT merit list.
SC / ST / OBC No separate quota No reservation is applicable. SC/ST/OBC students compete under the same General merit list and are admitted only if they meet the same BITSAT score and Class 12 eligibility criteria as all other students.
Reservation of Quotas for BITSAT Counselling 2026

Note: Because there is no caste-based or state-domicile reservation, competition at BITS Pilani is equally open to all eligible students across India. A student from any state, board, or background competes on the same merit list, and the preference order they submitted determines which campus and programme they receive.

How to Apply for BITSAT Counselling 2026?

The entire BITSAT 2026 admission process — registration, fee payment, Class 12 marks submission, preference form, and seat acceptance — is conducted online at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in. There is no offline or in-person component until campus reporting in late July.

Registering for counselling is mandatory — your BITSAT rank alone does not guarantee a seat. Every eligible student who appeared in BITSAT 2026 must complete all five steps below to be considered for seat allotment. For BITSAT 2026, Steps 1–4 have already closed; the upcoming required action is responding to Iteration 1 seat allotment on June 20, 2026 (Step 5).

Step 1: Register on the Official Admission Portal

Visit admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in and log in using your BITSAT 2026 Application Number and Password — the same credentials used when registering for the BITSAT exam. No separate account creation is needed. Once logged in, verify that your personal details, exam scores (Session 1 and/or Session 2), and contact information are correctly displayed on your admission dashboard.

Step 2: Pay the Counselling Registration Fee

Pay the non-refundable counselling registration fee of Rs 1,000 through the payment gateway on the portal. Accepted modes include net banking, credit card, debit card, and UPI. Save the transaction ID and payment confirmation email. This fee must be paid before the system accepts your preference form submission, and it covers your participation in all iterations of BITSAT 2026 counselling — it is not charged again in subsequent rounds.

Step 3: Submit Class 12 Marks

Upload your Class 12 PCM marksheet through the admission portal. BITS Pilani uses these marks alongside your best BITSAT score to compute your final merit rank. Students whose board results were not yet declared at the time of the initial deadline could submit predicted marks — and the June 9–10 edit window allowed students to update these to actual marks once results were announced. Your submitted Class 12 marks directly determine your merit rank and your eligibility; any discrepancy found at campus reporting will result in immediate cancellation of admission.

Step 4: Fill the FD Programme Preferences

Submit a ranked list of (campus + programme) combinations in the FD Preference Form. You may list preferences across all three campuses and all eligible programmes. The FD preference form for BITSAT 2026 had its extended deadline on June 3, 2026, and an edit window from June 9–10 for revisions; both are now closed. Your final saved preference order from before the June 10 closure will be used for Iteration 1 and all subsequent iterations without change. Fill at least 15–20 preferences to maximise your chances across all rounds.

Step 5: Respond to Each Iteration’s Seat Allotment

Starting June 20, 2026, log in after each iteration’s results are announced and review your allotted seat. If you receive an allotment, pay the advance fee within 48 hours (by June 22 for Iteration 1) to confirm it. Missing the advance fee payment deadline automatically cancels your allotment for that iteration. After paying, you remain in the pool for auto-upgrades in the next iteration. If you are allotted your top preference, there is nowhere to upgrade — accept and prepare for campus reporting. You may also formally withdraw at any stage if you have secured admission elsewhere.

How to Fill and Lock Programme Preferences (Step-by-Step Guide)

The FD Preference Form is the single most consequential input in BITSAT 2026 counselling — it determines which campus and programme you are offered across all iterations. While the preference window for 2026 has closed, the strategy behind preference ordering continues to matter: your locked preferences determine whether you receive an auto-upgrade or stay at your current allotment in each successive round.

Step 1: Log In to the Admission Portal

  • Go to admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in and log in with your BITSAT 2026 Application Number and Password.
  • Navigate to the "FD Preference Form" section on your dashboard.
  • Confirm that your Class 12 marks are already submitted and correctly reflected before adding or editing preferences.

Step 2: Browse All Available Programmes Across Campuses

  • The portal lists all B.E. (Hons.), M.Sc. (Hons.), B.Pharm. (Hons.), and Dual Degree programmes available at Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad.
  • Review previous year (2025) closing BITSAT scores for each combination to gauge which preferences are realistic vs. aspirational given your current merit position.
  • Programmes like B.E. Computer Science at Pilani campus typically carry the highest demand and require the highest scores.

Step 3: Add Preferences in Genuine Priority Order

  • Select each (campus + programme) combination you wish to be considered for and add it to your list.
  • Place your most-desired combination at Rank 1 and work downward toward accessible backup options.
  • Do not rank a combination higher than another unless you genuinely prefer it — the system allots the top available match, and you cannot refuse a higher-ranked allotment once received.

Step 4: Balance Aspirational and Safe Choices

  • Include aspirational choices at the top — seats can open in later iterations as higher-ranked students upgrade or withdraw, making early "unreachable" programmes accessible.
  • Include accessible "safe" combinations lower in your list to ensure you are not left without any allotment in later iterations.
  • Add preferences across all three campuses (Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad) — each campus has different seat intakes per programme.

Step 5: Save and Lock Before the Deadline

  • Click "Save Preferences" after every addition or reordering — the portal may time out; always save before navigating away.
  • Click "Final Submit" / "Lock Preferences" before the stated deadline to commit your list.
  • Take a screenshot or note down your finalised preference sequence as proof — once locked, no changes are permitted.

Once locked, your preference list applies to every subsequent iteration until you withdraw or receive your first-ranked available preference.

Preference Filling Strategy Why It Matters
Add 15–20 or more choices Fewer preferences increase the risk of going unallotted if all listed options fill up before your merit rank is reached
Rank by genuine preference, not expected cutoff The system allots the best available match — ranking a less-desired programme higher can lock you into an unwanted seat
Include all three campuses Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad each have different capacities; broader geographic coverage expands your options across iterations
Add M.Sc. (Hons.) programmes if open to pure science M.Sc. (Hons.) combinations typically close at lower BITSAT scores than B.E. and can later transition to Dual Degree within BITS
Verify preference sequence before final submission Sequence errors cannot be corrected after the deadline; a misplaced Rank 1 can result in an irreversible allotment to a programme you ranked there by mistake

BITSAT Counselling Documents Required 2026

Most documents are uploaded as soft copies during the online admission process. All originals must be brought to campus for physical verification on reporting day (July 28–30, 2026). Verification happens before fee payment and hostel allotment — missing or mismatched documents result in on-the-spot cancellation of admission.

  • BITSAT 2026 Scorecard — downloaded from the official portal; shows your best session score used for merit computation
  • Class 12 Marksheet (original) — showing PCM marks meeting the 75% aggregate and 60% per-subject eligibility thresholds; provisional marksheet accepted if final is not yet issued at the form stage, but the final must be presented at reporting
  • Class 12 Pass Certificate — confirming successful completion with required PCM subjects
  • Class 10 Certificate and Marksheet — for date of birth and identity verification
  • Transfer Certificate / School Leaving Certificate — issued by the last institution attended
  • Migration Certificate — required if you passed Class 12 from a board other than the board conventionally associated with the state where your allotted BITS campus is located
  • Character Certificate — issued by the principal or head of your last educational institution
  • Medical Fitness Certificate — from a registered medical practitioner; confirming fitness for engineering or pharmacy studies as applicable
  • Passport-size photographs — minimum six, identical in style to those submitted during BITSAT registration
  • Photo Identity Proof — Aadhaar Card, Passport, or Voter ID (original of any one)
  • Advance Fee Payment Receipt — printed or digital proof of the advance fee paid after seat acceptance through the portal
  • PwD Certificate — applicable only if claiming PwD provisions; must be from a competent medical authority as specified in the BITS Pilani 2026 admission notification
  • Bank account details — required for fee refund processing in case of withdrawal or over-payment adjustment
BITSAT Counselling Documents Required 2026

Note: Students who submitted predicted Class 12 marks during the preference form stage must ensure their actual final marks meet the 75% aggregate (PCM) and 60% per-subject criteria. Shortfalls discovered at reporting lead to immediate cancellation of admission with no refund of advance fees paid.

How Much Money is Needed for BITSAT Counselling 2026?

BITSAT 2026 counselling involves two distinct financial components: a mandatory non-refundable registration fee paid at the time of preference form submission, and an advance fee paid upon accepting any iteration’s seat allotment. The advance fee is adjustable against your first-semester academic fees at campus reporting — it is not an additional charge but a part-payment of the first year’s cost. Full-year tuition and hostel fees are settled at the time of reporting.

Non-Refundable Fees

Fee Component Amount When Paid Refundability
Counselling / Admission Registration Fee Rs 1,000 Once, before submitting the FD preference form Non-refundable under all circumstances — even if no seat is allotted, you withdraw before any iteration, or you decline every offer

This fee applies equally to all students regardless of gender, category, or campus preference. It is a one-time processing charge for participating in the BITSAT 2026 admission process and has no bearing on subsequent fee payments made during seat acceptance.

Refundable / Adjustable Advance Fees

Fee Component Amount (Indicative) Adjustability / Refundability
Advance Fee on Seat Acceptance (domestic students, all three campuses) Approximately Rs 40,000–50,000 (indicative, based on 2025 fee structure; exact 2026 amount as per official BITS Pilani notification at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in) Fully adjustable against first-semester tuition fees at campus reporting — you pay only the balance (remaining first-semester fees minus this advance) when you report to campus.
Refund on withdrawal: If you withdraw before campus reporting, a partial refund may be available; the amount refunded depends on BITS Pilani’s withdrawal and refund schedule for 2026. If you withdraw after reporting to campus and completing admission formalities, the advance fee is generally not refunded. Check the official refund policy on the portal before any withdrawal decision post-payment.

If you withdraw after accepting a seat and paying advance fees, the seat acceptance fee is not fully refunded. The non-refundable portion typically increases the closer to reporting you withdraw. Students participating in both JoSAA and BITSAT counselling simultaneously should make a final institution choice well before the BITS reporting date to maximise any eligible refund.

The total first-year cost at BITS Pilani Indian campuses — including tuition, development fee, and hostel — is approximately Rs 5–6 lakhs per year for most programmes. The advance fee covers only a portion of this; the balance is settled at reporting. Exact fee schedules are published in the official BITS Pilani fee structure notification for 2026.

BITSAT 2026 Iteration-Wise Seat Allotment

BITS Pilani conducts six to seven iterations of seat allotment between late June and early August 2026. In each iteration, every eligible student is assigned the best available (campus + programme) combination from their preference list based on merit rank. As higher-ranked students upgrade to better preferences or withdraw, seats vacate and flow to lower-ranked students — making later iterations genuinely valuable, not merely consolation rounds.

Iteration Seat Allotment Date Fee Payment Deadline Status
Iteration 1 June 20, 2026 June 22, 2026 Out
Iteration 2 To be announced (July 2026) To be announced TBA
Iteration 3 To be announced (July 2026) To be announced TBA
Iteration 4 To be announced (July 2026) To be announced TBA
Iteration 5 To be announced (July–August 2026) To be announced TBA
Iteration 6 / Final Round To be announced (August 2026) To be announced TBA

Key rules governing iterations:

  • Exact dates for Iterations 2–6 will be announced by BITS Pilani after Iteration 1 is processed. Check admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in regularly for updated dates after June 20.
  • If you receive an allotment in any iteration and pay the advance fee within the deadline, you automatically remain eligible for upgrades in the next iteration — no re-application is needed.
  • If you miss the advance fee payment deadline, your allotment is cancelled automatically. Whether you re-enter subsequent iterations depends on BITS Pilani’s policy for the relevant round — do not rely on re-entry; pay on time.
  • If you are allotted your first-ranked preference in any iteration, the process ends for you — there is nowhere to upgrade since your own top choice has been allotted.
  • Students not allotted a seat in an earlier iteration remain in the pool for subsequent rounds, provided they have remaining unfilled preferences with available seats.

Programmes available for allotment across campuses:

Campus B.E. (Hons.) Programmes Other FD Programmes
Pilani, Rajasthan Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Manufacturing, Mechanical B.Pharm. (Hons.); M.Sc. (Hons.) in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics; M.Sc. (Tech.) in Finance, General Studies, Technology Management, Information Systems
Goa Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical M.Sc. (Hons.) in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics
Hyderabad, Telangana Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Manufacturing, Mechanical B.Pharm. (Hons.); M.Sc. (Hons.) in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics

Dual Degree (B.E. + M.Sc.) combinations are available at all three campuses and are listed as separate preferences in the FD preference form. If you are interested in a dual degree, confirm that you added it explicitly in your preference list — it is not automatically bundled with a standalone B.E. preference for the same subject.

Accept, Auto-Upgrade, or Withdraw: Decision Guide

After each iteration’s results are announced, every allotted student has a short window — typically 48 hours — to decide what to do. Understanding the implications of each option helps you make the right call, especially if you are running BITSAT counselling in parallel with JoSAA for IITs and NITs.

Option What It Means When to Choose It
Accept and Pay (with Auto-Upgrade active) Pay advance fees to confirm your current allotment. Your seat is secured as a fallback. BITS Pilani automatically checks whether a better preference from your list is available in the next iteration and upgrades you if so; your advance fee is adjusted accordingly. You are comfortable with the current allotment but would welcome something higher on your preference list. This is the safest default choice for most students — your current seat is protected while the upgrade opportunity remains open.
Accept and Freeze (no further upgrade) Pay advance fees and explicitly opt out of further iterations. Your current allotment becomes final. No more changes are made by BITS Pilani from this point. You are fully satisfied with the allotted campus and programme and have no need for an upgrade — especially if you received your top-ranked realistic preference in an early iteration.
Withdraw Exit the BITS Pilani 2026 admission process entirely. Your allotted seat is released back for the next iteration. Any advance fee paid is subject to BITS Pilani’s refund and withdrawal policy. You have confirmed admission elsewhere (e.g., an IIT through JoSAA) and no longer need a BITS seat. Withdraw formally — do not simply miss the deadline, as a deadline miss may have different refund implications than a formal withdrawal request.

Decision rules to keep in mind:

  • Never miss the advance fee deadline — the June 22 deadline for Iteration 1 is fixed. Missing it cancels your allotment automatically with no grace period. Set a reminder for June 21 at the latest.
  • If your allotment is your first-ranked preference, accept and freeze — there is no upgrade above your own top choice.
  • If the allotment is an acceptable but not ideal option, pay and keep the auto-upgrade active. You lose nothing: your current seat is the floor, and a better option can only replace it upward.
  • If the allotted option is one you would never accept even as a last resort, withdraw cleanly rather than paying advance fees and withdrawing later at higher cost.
  • If you withdraw after accepting a seat and paying advance fees, the seat acceptance fee is not fully refunded. The deductible portion increases as you withdraw closer to the reporting date.

Reporting to Campus

Students whose seat allotment is finalised after early iterations (typically Iterations 1–3) must report physically to their allotted BITS campus to complete admission. Campus reporting for BITSAT 2026 is scheduled from July 28–30, 2026, with the Student Orientation Programme beginning on July 30 at respective campuses. Students allotted in later iterations (4–6) will have separate reporting dates announced by BITS Pilani closer to the time.

  • Document Verification: Submit all original documents for physical inspection. BITS Pilani staff cross-check your Class 12 marks, scorecard, ID proof, and other documents against the data submitted online. Discrepancies — particularly in Class 12 marks falling below the 75%/60% threshold — result in immediate on-the-spot cancellation of admission.
  • Payment of Balance Academic Fees: Pay the balance of first-semester tuition and academic charges (total first-semester fees minus the advance fee already paid online). Accepted payment modes are confirmed by the respective campus closer to reporting.
  • Hostel Allotment: BITS Pilani provides on-campus hostel accommodation for most first-year students. Hostel allotment and separate hostel fee payment are completed at or shortly after reporting. Hostel fee is not included in the advance fee paid online.
  • Student Registration and ID Issuance: Receive your BITS student ID card, library card, and complete on-campus academic registration to access classes, laboratories, and campus systems from Day 1.
  • Orientation Programme: Attend the mandatory Student Orientation Programme on July 30, 2026. Campus-specific orientation schedules, venue details, and pre-arrival reading materials are communicated by each campus administration in the last week of July.

Students who fail to report within the prescribed window forfeit their allotted seat with no refund of advance fees. If a genuine emergency prevents timely reporting, contact the BITS Pilani admissions helpdesk through the official portal well before the reporting deadline — do not wait until the date passes.

FAQs

Ques: When is BITSAT 2026 Iteration 1 seat allotment, and how do I check it?

Ans: Iteration 1 seat allotment for BITSAT 2026 is scheduled for June 20, 2026. The result will be available through your login at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in using your Application Number and Password. Students allotted a seat must pay the advance fee by June 22, 2026 to confirm it. If you are not allotted in Iteration 1, remain in the process — subsequent iterations running through July 2026 may produce allotments as higher-ranked students upgrade or withdraw, freeing seats in your preferred programmes.

Ques: Is the Rs 1,000 counselling registration fee refundable?

Ans: No. The Rs 1,000 counselling registration fee is completely non-refundable under any circumstances — whether you receive a seat allotment, withdraw from the process, or are found ineligible. It is a one-time participation fee for BITSAT 2026 counselling and does not count toward seat acceptance fees or first-year tuition.

Ques: Can I change my FD programme preferences after both the deadline and edit window have passed?

Ans: No. The FD preference form extended deadline was June 3, 2026, and the edit window that allowed revisions to both Class 12 marks and preference order ran from June 9–10, 2026 — both are now closed. Your final saved preference list from before the June 10 closure is locked and will be used unchanged for Iteration 1 on June 20 and every subsequent iteration. No further modifications to preference order are possible.

Ques: Do SC/ST/OBC students get any reservation in BITSAT 2026 admission?

Ans: No. BITS Pilani is a private deemed-to-be university and does not implement SC/ST/OBC reservation. All students compete on the same open merit list based on BITSAT score and Class 12 PCM performance. There is no separate quota, relaxed eligibility, or fee concession for SC/ST/OBC students. The only distinct admission provisions are for PwD students and DAS-qualifying board toppers.

Ques: What is the Direct Admission Scheme (DAS) and who qualifies?

Ans: The Direct Admission Scheme (DAS) is a pathway exclusively for students who rank first in their entire Class 12 board exam (any state or central board) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. DAS students do not need a BITSAT score — they are offered seats before the merit-based iterations begin and can choose from programmes available at the time of their DAS offer. They must still meet the 75%/60% PCM eligibility criteria and apply separately on the admissions portal with official first-rank documentation from their board. DAS seats come from the same programme pool as BITSAT merit seats.

Ques: What happens if I miss the Iteration 1 advance fee deadline of June 22, 2026?

Ans: Missing the June 22 deadline automatically cancels your Iteration 1 allotment. Whether you re-enter Iteration 2 depends on BITS Pilani’s policy for the 2026 cycle — the safer assumption is that a missed deadline means a forfeited allotment with no guaranteed re-entry. Pay as soon as results are announced on June 20; do not wait until June 22. If you encounter a technical problem or genuine emergency, contact BITS Pilani admissions support through the official portal immediately.

Ques: Can I participate in JoSAA counselling (IITs/NITs) and BITSAT 2026 admission at the same time?

Ans: Yes. JoSAA and BITSAT 2026 admission are entirely independent processes run by different bodies, and you may hold yourself active in both. You cannot ultimately enrol in two degree programmes, so you will need to commit to one institution. If you decide on an IIT or NIT seat through JoSAA, formally withdraw from BITS Pilani admission before the reporting window (July 28–30, 2026) to recover the maximum possible refund on your advance fees. If you prefer BITS Pilani, withdraw from JoSAA. Formal withdrawal from either process is always preferable to simply abandoning it, as the refund eligibility differs.

Ques: How many preferences should I add to maximise my chances?

Ans: Fill at least 15–20 preferences to maximise your chances across all rounds. The iteration system assigns you the best available option from your list — if all your listed combinations fill up before your merit rank is reached, you receive no allotment even in later rounds. Adding options across all three campuses and including M.Sc. (Hons.) programmes and lower-demand B.E. specialisations as backups significantly improves allotment probability. This guidance is most relevant for students preparing preference forms in future BITSAT cycles; the 2026 preference window has already closed.

Ques: When is campus reporting, and what documents must I bring?

Ans: Campus reporting for early-iteration allottees is from July 28–30, 2026, at the allotted BITS campus (Pilani, Goa, or Hyderabad), with orientation on July 30. Bring originals of: BITSAT 2026 scorecard, Class 12 marksheet (actual, with PCM marks meeting 75% aggregate and 60% per subject), Class 12 pass certificate, Class 10 certificate and marksheet, transfer certificate, character certificate, medical fitness certificate, six passport-size photographs, a valid photo ID (Aadhaar/Passport/Voter ID), advance fee payment receipt, and PwD certificate if applicable. BITS Pilani re-verifies your Class 12 marks on the spot — bring the original marksheet, not a photocopy.

Ques: My Class 12 results came out after both the preference form deadline and the edit window. What should I do?

Ans: If your Class 12 results were declared after both the June 3 extended deadline and the June 9–10 edit window, contact the BITS Pilani admissions helpdesk through admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in immediately. BITS Pilani may have a provision for submitting verified marks in documented exceptional cases. Regardless of how you submitted marks online, your actual Class 12 marks will be physically verified at campus reporting. Ensure your actual marks meet the 75% aggregate and 60% per-subject criteria; if they do not, your admission will be cancelled at reporting even if you were provisionally allotted a seat.
