Ques. Which is better BITSAT or IIT?

Ans. Generally, attending a good IIT is “better” than attending BITS, especially for students who aim for research, academic prestige, or the top tier of opportunities.

If you get into IIT Bombay/IIT Delhi/IIT Madras, it is usually a strong choice over BITS (unless the BITS Pilani is exceptional and you have constraints).

But if you get a newer or less reputed IIT, then BITS is a strong campus (Pilani / Goa / Hyderabad), you can prefer BITS in some cases, it gives you more flexibility, or better packages.

So, "IIT is better in a more general and long-term sense, for most high-achieving students," yet BITS remains an awesome option and might be "better for you" based on your priorities (cost, flexibility, campus life, branch, etc.).

Ques. Which BITS campus is best?

Ans. The “best” depends on what you prioritize.

  • BITS Pilani: The best of the BITS campuses with the highest academic reputation, highest BITSAT cutoffs (particularly for CSE and core branches), robust research infrastructure, stable faculties, and the most competitive peer group. Provides maximum academic intensity and long-term returns in placements and postgraduate opportunities.
  • BITS Goa: Strong academically with efficient faculty and decent research exposure, comparatively lower cutoffs compared to Pilani. The strengths are a moderate balance of academics and co-curriculars, promoting overall development, although its peer group competition is slightly lower.
  • BITS Hyderabad: Fast-growing campus with state-of-the-art labs, good infrastructure, and increasing research activity. Slightly lower cutoffs than Goa and Pilani, but urban location gives greater industry internship exposure. Academic rigor is increasing and becoming on par with Pilani in the long run.

Ques. Is BITS tier 1 college?

Ans. Yes, BITS colleges are considered Tier 1 institutions in India, especially in the field of engineering and technology.

With its high NIRF 2025 ranking- 11th in engineering, it has a strong research output, excellent placements, global collaborations, and a robust alumni network, making it one of the top institutes to pursue engineering and technology.

Ques. Is BITS private or Government?

Ans. BITS is a private deemed university, established in 1964 by the Birla family under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956

Is BITSAT easier than JEE?

BITSAT is comparatively easier than JEE Mains in terms of the difficulty level of questions asked and the competition level. Although the JEE Main and BITSAT syllabi are almost identical, JEE requires deeper conceptual understanding and application of formulas. The level of questions asked in physics, chemistry, and mathematics in BITSAT is slightly easier and more direct than the JEE question paper.

Talking about the level of competition, the number of students taking BITSAT is only 20% of those taking JEE Main. While only around 3 lakh apply for BITSAT every year, around 15 lakh apply for JEE Mains. This makes the competition to get a seat through JEE Main even tougher.

Is BITSAT easier than NEET?

Overall, both BITSAT and NEET are of moderate difficulty with slight variations in the topic-wise weightage distribution. Physics and Chemistry questions are more or less similar to the JEE and NEET levels. For the biology section (students opting for B.Pharm), NEET can be a good reference. You can solve NEET papers and get an idea of the difficulty level of questions.

BITSAT 2026 FAQs

BITSAT 2026 FAQs

Ques. Is 200 a good score in BITSAT?

Ans. What constitutes a good score in BITSAT depends on the BITS campus and the course you are aiming for. For example, 200 can be considered a good score for B.E Civil, B.Pharma, B.Sc Chemistry and B.Sc Biological Sciences in the 3 BITS campuses. For B.E Computer Science and B.E Electrical & Electronics, a score above 250 is considered good for admission.

Ques. Can I attempt BITSAT twice?

Ans. Yes, there are two attempts for BITSAT 2026. You can appear for BITSAT in two sessions, just like JEE Mains. BITSAT 2026 session 1 from April 15 to April 17 and session 2 from May 24 to 26. Registration for session 2 exams will open from May 24, 2026. To improve your scores, you must appear for the session 2 exams as the best out of the two will be considered for admission. Session 1 registered male and female applicants need to pay INR 2000 and INR 1500 respectively to register for session 2.

Ques. What is the pattern of BITSAT exam 2026?

Ans. BITSAT 2026 exam pattern provides for 130 questions to be attempted in 3 hours. The question paper is divided into 4 parts- part 1 is Physics, part 2 is Chemistry followed by English and Logical Reasoning in part 3 and Mathematics/Biology in part 4. A unique feature in the pattern of BITSAT 2026 is the option to attempt 12 extra questions in case you have time left after attempting all 130 questions. As per BITSAT marking scheme, 3 marks are awarded for every correct answer and 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.

Ques. What is the fees of BITS Pilani 2026?

  • Fees: IITs are government institutions while BITS is a private institution. As a result, the B.Tech fees at IITs is way lower than the B.E fees at BITS Pilani.
  • Ease of Admission: B.Tech admission in the IITs is very challenging as you need to clear both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced to be eligible. While for BITS admission, you need to take BITSAT and directly apply for admission.
  • NIRF Ranking: BITS Pilani NIRF 2023 ranking is 25. The top 8 engineering colleges ranks are occupied by IITs in the NIRF 2023 rankings. Out of the 23 IITs, only 14 rank higher than BITS Pilani.

Ans. Going by the previous year's record, 240 is a decent score for BITSAT 2025. Nearly every major course is available at BITS Pilani and other BITS campuses. A preliminary list of all programs and universities that will accept 240 points from the BITSAT 2025 exam has been provided by us.

Score Name of the College Subjects
240 - 250 BITS Pilani B.E. Mechanical
235 - 245 BITS Goa MSc Economics
240 - 250 BITS Hyderabad B.E. Electronics and Instrumentation

Ques. Is 300 a Good Score in BITSAT?
