Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because it is the flagship course of this college. The faculty-student ratio is 1:10 and it is good amongst the other B-School. The professors are highly qualified and they use hybrid methods to teach. The schedule of the academic year is made in initial month and is strictly followed.

Internships Opportunities

All the students got an offer and the stipend is not aware to us as it is confidential data. The highest was 3.5 Lakhs and the lowest was 50,000. The companies made the offer in the month of September and last offer was made in December

Course Curriculum Overview

My interest was in finance and the role that I want to get into is Investment banking that's why I chose to go with the PGP-Finance course in IIM Kozhikode. I would say that since it is a specialised course, it is more inclined toward Finance domain and the subjects that you are going to study will have that touch. To be very honest all my faculty members are quite professional and they know exactly want they are doing. student ratio is not very impressive in my course but overall it's very good with 60:40.

Placement Experience

In IIM Kozhikode placement record is 100% with an average salary of 31lakhs, In the first year summer internship placements will happen and in the second year final placement process will start. In 2022 123 companies came and gave 580 offers to students for final placements, all the big companies came to campus including Bain, BCG, Mckinsey, JPMorgan and many others.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure are relatively lower compared to other colleges in the same locality. For me (BCom) the annual fee is only 45000. And also there are some more feeses like library fees, mess fees etc. But all they are very lower approximately less than 7000 a year. The college provides some scholarships to their students for higher studies.

Campus Life

Annual fest and meets are celebrated like a festival here. you will get relief from studies and other activities. It is conducted in the months of august -September. The library is full of books you can get any books you want by paying a nominal fee. Sports meets are conducted by groups wisely and you can participate at most 4 items.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is structured in a way so that students can be updated on the ongoing trends. All the faculties hold PhD and have years of teaching experience. The only issue I see is that only a few faculties have industry experience, so applying the theories to solve real business problems gets difficult. However, all the faculties work hard to put across the concepts in the best possible manner. Also, industry experts are very often invited for guest lectures.

Campus Life

Even though MDI Murshidabad is located in a remote area, that does not stop students from having a great campus life. The campus a gym, cafeteria, swimming pool, library, and also a lush green field. All these give the student to unwind themselves after their class gets over. Various events are organized by student-run clubs and committees like CAMPXOTICA, Sports tournament, and many more.

MBA campus life is a vibrant one. Due to Covid, we couldn't go to college for most of the year. All the fests we had were online. We had a business conclave. We had a cultural fest in March. Classrooms amenities are very good. There are a lot of clubs and committees in IIM Vizag like finance club, operations club, consulting club, marketing, vatsalya for the social cause, and cultural clusters etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college fee for our batch was approximately 15.4 lakhs. This includes tution fee, caution and mess fee. College offers financial assistance to the students based on their economic status. Besides college will also give us updates on other government scholarships for students who would like to apply.

Course Curriculum Overview

The faculty base is very strong in this Institute, most of them have PhDs in their respective areas of expertise and years of teaching experience as well as industry exposure. The teaching method and course curriculum are very much comprehensive and designed in a planned manner. Each term has two exams, Midterm and End Term. The Midterm exams are conducted in the middle of the duration of the Term, and the End Term Exams are conducted by the end of the term. Apart from this, the faculties assign different weights to other aspects like Quizzes, Assignments, Presentations and Class Participation.

Placement Experience

Campus placements start from the start of the 5th trimester. The placement committee works towards ensuring 100% placements for every batch. The companies which come are both startups and established ones like Airtel, PWC, Talent Recruit, Rento Mojo etc. The highest package offered is Rs 15 LPA and the average stands at Rs 10.5 LPA. Many students have also opted out of the process and have found jobs from outside on their own. It all depends on the profile of the candidate, how well they can build it along the duration of the course.

Course Curriculum Overview

Postgraduate Program in Management (PGP) prepares a student for all the challenges with respect to the socio-economic environment. At IIM Bodh Gaya, the course curriculum of PGP is deeply involved in teaching accounting, financial management, business research, and the Indian legal system. An equal share of theoretical knowledge projects and industry workshops provides an all-around enrichment for a management student. Here at IIM BG, the overall curriculum is overseen from IIM Calcutta's curriculum. The eminent faculty has substantial experience of teaching in IIMC, the institute known for its standards of PGP Finance. It is the prime reason, why I opted for PGP Finance at IIM Bodh Gaya, as the overall pedagogy is as per the IIMC. The exams are held timely at the end of each semester, however, students need to achieve the minimum threshold marks of 6 CGPA to be promoted to the next semester. If they fail, students have to register for electives offered in that Semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

PGP at IIM Bodh Gaya is a two-year program. Each year is divided into 3 terms, thus adding to 6 terms for the entire course duration. The total course fee is INR 1,060,000. As per the fee structure, students have to pay a total of INR 185,000 in the first term followed by INR 175,000 in each of the next 5 terms. There are a total of 4 types of scholarships applicable to PGP students at IIM BG. The scholarships are offered by the Government of India. These are merit-based scholarships eligible for SC, ST, Minority, and Disabled students. IIM BG placement rate is 100%; which denotes every student receives an offer from top-notch companies visiting the campus.

Ques. Which one should I choose: MBA at IIT Kharagpur (operations) or IMT Ghaziabad (finance)?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 06 Oct 23

Ans. IIT Kharagpur for operations would be better than IMT Ghaziabad (finance). As IMT Ghaziabad is more famous for its marketing course than finance. IIT Kharagpur is known for its operations management program and has a strong reputation as an institution of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). A few key aspects of IIT Kharagpur are as follows: In 2023 IIT Kharagpur secured 14th rank among all top management schools in India. This does reflect its academic excellence, infrastructural abilities, faculty strength, and placement records.  The faculties are adequately skilled and helpful while imparting quality education. The hostel's amenities include triple and double sharing, as well as all the essentials. The food is of high quality, and you will have four meals. The admissions procedure includes signing up for the hostel. Accommodation in a hostel is required for all students. IIT Kharagpur placements 2023 have been concluded. IT Kgp highest package stood at INR 43.37 LPA whereas VGSOM IIT Kharagpur's average package stood at INR 22.13 LPA. So based on these aspects IIT Kharagpur is a better option for pursuing an MBA in operation management.Read more

Ques. How good is the department of financial studies MBA (FM), Delhi University?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 15 Sept 23

Ans. My brother was a student at this college and so this answer is based on his experience solely. The Department of Financial Studies is a CFA-affiliated college wherein you can get a scholarship for pursuing a CFA degree. Its MBA program is highly coveted. It's the best option for you if you want to pursue a career in Finance and fail to make it to other B Schools. Here are some factors to consider  Fees: The low fees charged by DFS is the USP of the college. You can pursue an MBA at just 26000. IIMs fees on the other end are very high Around 13–24 lakhs. So DFS offers a better ROI than IIMs. Curriculum: Curriculum-wise, DFS cannot be compared to IIMs that have excellent course structure at par with foreign universities. DFS follows the semester pattern, unlike the trimester pattern in IIMs. IIMs conduct case study competitions but this is not the case at DFS. Faculty : DFS has some very well-educated and experienced faculty members much better than at least the new IIMs. Placement: The placements at DFS are at par with new IIMs only and not other top IIMs.  Alumni: The small batch size of DFS has failed to establish an elaborate alumni base in contrast to IIM Ahmedabad. Ultimately, if you don’t want a huge loan to repay at the end of 2 years or the IIM tag, DFS is the best optionRead more

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 05 Sept 23

Ans. You can consider XIME Bangalore as your first choice, then SIESCOM and NL Dalmia as your second and third choices, respectively. It is better not to consider NDIM or USB since they are bad at academics and placement support. XIME has a decent placement package, a good academic history, well-equipped classrooms, a resourceful atmosphere, and experienced scholars. Ques. Which college is good to go to with options like Welingkar School, IBS Hyderabad, IFIM Bangalore and IMT Hyderabad, when my interest is in MBA Finance?

● Top Answer By Divya Saraf on 04 Sept 23

Ans. First of all, congratulations on graduating and making the best decision to opt for an MBA in Finance. You have to carefully examine the infrastructure, fees, facilities, and faculties before confirming an institute, and this is a crucial step for every candidate.  Let us have a brief comparison of the colleges you have preferred- IMT Hyderabad – This institute is known for its infrastructure, location, and faculty, but it is new and lacks experience when compared with institutes like IMT Nagpur. IFIM Bangalore – They are good at academics but charge exorbitant fees. IBS Hyderabad – They have a resourceful atmosphere in their college and are good at infrastructure. Every class is filled with a greater number of students, and they also charge a high price for each seat. Welingkar School – They are superlative at infrastructure, faculty, academics, facilities, and campus life. Most importantly, they follow affordable fee schemes for the students. So, you can go with the option of Welingkar School for your studies.Read more
