Management Development Institute Murshidabad College Review

Management Development Institute Murshidabad is an emerging B School in Eastern India. It has all the facilities which a good B School should have like Bloomberg terminal , Library, great faculties, Industry experts coming for guest lectures and student-run committees. All this provides a platform for the candidates to upgrade their skill sets. Also considering its Fees and the placement opportunities it made sense to choose it over other opportunities I had.

The course is structured in a way so that students can be updated on the ongoing trends. All the faculties hold PhD and have years of teaching experience. The only issue I see is that only a few faculties have industry experience, so applying the theories to solve real business problems gets difficult. However, all the faculties work hard to put across the concepts in the best possible manner. Also, industry experts are very often invited for guest lectures.

For the year 2020-22, there has been an improvement in the kind opportunities and role that was provided. Companies like Moody's , Cadilla , Mphasis , Emami visited. Roles like Equity Research, Investment Analyst, Market research analyst, talent acquisition etcd was offered

There are good placement opportunities in the college. The college has been recording 100% placements since its inception. Average Package hovers around 9-11 lakh, but there are also students on extreme ends getting very low packages like 5-6 lakh and some getting as high as 17 - 21 lakhs. The median salary is around 9- 11 lakh.

The cost structure reasonably stands at 11.5 lakhs for the batch of 2020 -22. This includes fees for flooding and lodging. There isn't any scholarship opportunity yet, but candidates can easily get an education loan from SBI without any collateral. There is also placement assistance from the Placement committee which is also student-run.

Even though MDI Murshidabad is located in a remote area, that does not stop students from having a great campus life. The campus a gym, cafeteria, swimming pool, library, and also a lush green field. All these give the student to unwind themselves after their class gets over. Various events are organized by student-run clubs and committees like CAMPXOTICA, Sports tournament, and many more.

Every student is provided accommodation in the campus itself which is single occupancy. The accommodation is very near to the classroom, therefore, students are saved from rushing for the morning classes. The meals are great and of high quality.

The selection process starts with shortlisting based on CAT Score (Usually between 70-90 based on profile ). After shortlisting, students are called for GD and Personal Interview. For the GD rounds the topics are given which are of national importance for example in my case the topic was How to Double the farmer's Income?. Next for the Personal Interview round the interview hovers around the basic profile of the candidate like work experience, personality traits, and freshers questions are generally on Graduation and about their personality traits. MDI Murshidabad selects candidates based on their overall profile thus a high CAT score doesn't guarantee admission.
