MSc Zoology Semester Wise Syllabus

MSc Zoology has 2 semesters each year for 2 years. The subjects are explained below:

MSc Zoology First Semester Subjects

• Ecological theories and applications: The theory of ecology includes the heterogeneous distribution of organisms, interactions of organisms, the mortality of organisms, contingency, environmental heterogeneity finite and heterogeneous resources and evolutionary cause of ecological properties.
• Genetics and Genetic Engineering: Genetic engineering is called as a process, where laboratory-based technologies are used to alter the DNA makeup of an organism. 
• Tissue structure Function and Chemistry: A group of cells that have a similar structures and that function together as a unit is known as tissue.

• Comparative Animal Physiology: It involves physiology where processes of vertebrates and invertebrates are studied at the cellular, organ and whole animal levels of the organization. 
• Endocrinology and Neuroscience: Neuroscience is the study of the brain and nervous system. While Endocrinology is the study of hormones. Here, the study of interactions between hormones and the brain, primarily how hormones affect behavior are studied.
• Cell and Receptor Biology: This subject is about cellular receptors. They are proteins either inside a cell or on its surface, which receive a signal.

• Development and Differentiation: Differentiation refers to the normal process by which a less specialized cell undergoes maturation to become more distinct in form and Developmental biology means a process by which animals and plants grow and develop.
• Taxonomy and Biodiversity: Taxonomy defines the places to which they belong. It provides an easy to identify the categories of the species and to plan necessary measures for biodiversity conservation.
• Evolution and Animal Behaviour: It is the study of the behaviors controlled by genes, they may evolve through natural selection.

MSc Zoology Fourth Semester 

• Conservation Biology and Wildlife: A practice of protecting plant and animal species and their habitats. Wildlife provides nature processes balance and stability.
• Biotechnology and Applications: This subject includes therapeutics, diagnostics, genetically modified crops for agriculture, waste treatment, and energy production, etc..
• Biostatistics: The science of designing, analyzing and interpreting studies that are aimed at improving public health and medicine.
