Kerala DElEd admission result is released on the official website @https://scert.kerala.gov.in/. DElEd is a 2-year diploma course structured to equip candidates with the essential knowledge and skills required for effective teaching in primary and upper primary schools in Kerala. 

DElEd Course is designed to give a complete education about teaching kids. It covers theory, hands-on training, and real-world experience through internships. The course also serves as a stepping stone for candidates looking to pursue further educational qualifications or to undertake state-level Teacher Eligibility Tests (TET), marking the beginning of a fulfilling career in elementary education.

Kerala DElEd Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for admission to Kerala DElEd are given below:

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exams in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for the SC/ST class students) from a recognized board. 
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Kerala.
  • Applicants should not be below 17 years of age nor should not be over 33 years as of 1.7.2024. OBC Category applicants will have a relaxation of 3 years and those of SC/ST, a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
  • Except SC/ST applicants who have taken more than three chances to pass the qualifying examination are not eligible for admission. Attempts at ‘Save a Year’ (SAY) Exam will also be treated as a chance.
  • Of the total seats, 40%, 40%, and 20% respectively will be allotted for Science, Humanities, and Commerce streams.

Kerala DElEd Admission Criteria

  • Of the total number of seats, 50% will be open merit and 50% management quota.
  • In Self-financing institutions, 50% of seats are open merit seats and the remaining 50%, are management seats.
  • For applying to the Govt/Aided category, the application fee is INR 5, and for the self-financing category, it is INR 100. The fee must be remitted as specified.
  • One can apply to only one Revenue District in each of the Government/Aided category and Self-financing category.
  • The institutions to which the applicant desires to be considered in the Revenue district must be specified in the application in the order of preference.
  • To be considered for Management seats, separate applications with the prescribed fee must be submitted to the Management of the Institute. 

Fee Structure

The annual fee for merit-category students is INR 30,000 and the annual fee for management quota students is INR 35,000. The said amount is to be paid in two instalments every year. 

Reservation Quota in 50% Merit Quota Seats

  • 2% of total seats in merit quota are reserved in each revenue district for ex-servicemen. Those concerned should apply in the prescribed manner. 
  • If there are not enough applications for the seats, the wives and unmarried children of those who have separated after at least 5 years of service in the military service will be selected for the remaining seats. 
  • Eligible candidates should apply in a prescribed manner along with self-attested copies of necessary certificates.
  • Wives and unmarried children of servicemen who have left the service before completing 5 years or died beyond their control will be given these seats if there are no eligible applicants in the above two categories.
  • The jawans or demobilized persons should also produce a self-attested copy of the certificate from the Tehsildar or District Military Welfare Board Officer to prove their relationship with the applicant.
  • If there are no eligible applicants for the above-mentioned seats, applications from other eligible categories will be considered for the remaining seats.
  • 4% of seats are reserved for special needs category students. Eligible candidates should also submit self-attested copies of necessary certificates along with the application. 
  • The severity (percentage) of disability prescribed by the government should be ensured.
  • 10% of seats are reserved for economically backward Munakka sections. 
  • The EWS seats are to be filled by the Deputy Directors of Education in the respective institutions as per the option of the applicants.

Other Quotas for Kerala DElEd Admission

Quotas Details
Sports Quota One seat for every 50 seats should be reserved for athletes
The said applicants should produce the original certificates at the time of the interview and at the respective center.
NCC Quota A weightage of 10 marks is given to NCC Cadets in Merit Quota. Only those who have a weightage certificate issued in this regard by the NCC Directorate will get this benefit.
Awardee quota Preference for DElEd admission, who have won Rajyapuraskar or Rashtrapati Puraskar of Bharat Scouts and Guides 

Management Quota

Based on merit the management quota seats in each self-supporting institution would be allotted by the managers. Eligibility for these seats will be determined by scoring 65% on the qualifying exam and 35% in the interview. After the first phase of counselling the second phase would be done within two weeks.

Can students from other states participate in Kerala DElEd counselling?

As per the reservation criteria, 10% of the total seats in Tamil TTIs (Teacher Training Institutes) are reserved for students who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination from Tamil Nadu. 

After giving admission to all the eligible students of Kerala in the merit/management seats in the self-financing TTIs, the remaining seats will be given to the students of other states based on the nativity certificate of their state domicile.

Can DElEd be done along with other graduation courses?

Yes, DElEd can be done along with other graduation courses like BEd, BA, BSc, BCom, etc.

Kerala DElEd 2024 Merit List

The Kerala D.El.Ed Admission Results/Merit List for the academic session of July 2024 is expected to be released in July 2024. Aspirants can access the merit list exclusively through the online the official web portal http://www.scert.kerala.gov.in. The merit list is a comprehensive compilation containing crucial details such as candidate names, father’s name, registration numbers, ranks, and other relevant information. 

Successful candidates, identified by their numbers on the merit list, will be subsequently called for the counseling process. Following the official announcement of results, eligible candidates can download the merit list from the official web portal to determine their status in the admission proceedings.
